Triangle area public schools are all closed for the risk of severe weather tomorrow. Don’t think that is something that ever happened when I was in school? We are just in the moderate risk area, too.

Sad thing is the schools are so well built the kids would be safer there. My kids are in a 2 hour delay.
That too. I guess the issue is that this may hit during the afternoon commute when kids are on busses, etc. Still surprising to me. At least they’re not canceling for drizzle like they’ve done many times here…
I was gonna say that myself. Almost made a grouchy old man post saying they never cancelled school back in MY day for severe weather, and I remember taking cover in the hallways a time or two. Why they gotta do it now??
All kidding aside, I am surprised. Was thinking they could at least let out early around noon or something, but maybe they don't trust the timing? Anyway, the remote thing changes things a bit as well. I reckon I'll allow it without complaining too much..

No I definitely remember having to seek shelter in the hall and cover our heads a couple times and nothing was ever that close even

The latest I've seen snow was April 20, 2021. About 2 or 3 inches.
