Misc General Banter Thread

What an amazing stretch of great weather it’s been. Lots of folks outdoors, at parks, fishing. Great cold beer weather. This was missed. Can’t do those things comfortably in the cold. But we are quickly moving away from cold climo. Bring on the next torch

This summer weather (including 89/91 the last two days) has actually done the opposite for me, kept me inside on my treadmill for my exercise instead of my typical enjoyable March walks outside at a park in 60s-70s. Is it too much to ask for spring rather than summer wx in March?

This weekend is gonna split the difference with 60s/70s looks like a A+ weekend coming up

Here's a video someone uploaded from Inman SC. Keep in mind Technology only existed via way of radio, tv and poloroid cameras back then. So unlike today, missed out recording some fascinating scenes in the MTNs, where it really pounded and we had 4 -5+ foot drifts in spots.

It did end if you had any tomatoes set out.
I usually wait until at least the third week of April to plant tomatoes outside. Even then we've seen the occasional patchy frost in late April a few times.

March is a transition month still, it has substantially more warm days than November-February but the warmth is rarely sustained. March often has a few days of 80+ but also some cold shots with freezes. March 2012 is the outlier, not the norm.

Warmth doesn't typically become sustained until the back half of April.

Time to go chase the little white ball with dimples today. Then see if Duke can get enough bodies out of the ambulance to pull another ACC tourney title out tonight.

these new AFDs from RAH are disappointing
I don't care for the new discussion format the National Weather Service has switched to either. This forecast format does not go into enough detail as far as what future surface conditions might look like (temperature, rainfall amounts, etc.) When we get periods of stable weather in the future, with the way the new format is set up, there will be little to discuss.

I definitely don’t like the “key messages” format being utilized by many WFOs in recent months. The discussions don’t seem as free flowing. At first I thought it was just my local WFO doing that. Then I saw many others doing the same.

I agree. It strikes me as some directive higher up to "improve" messaging by making it more direct and make it standardized between WFOs. One of those good ideas in theory, but not seeing it in execution. I've definitely seen less detail and less updates as well.

I can only speak to RAH AFD's since I rarely read the others unless for major events.

It reminds me of the NHC doing it during hurricane threats. I guess they are streamlining since it's all from the same government

Can't say I'm a big fan either

I actually haven't really seen it here yet but maybe that's because our weather is boring for awhile other than this dry windy front
