Yep, barely squeeked it in. Clouds started breaking up around 3:30, and we climbed to 71. Not a bust, but those clouds hanged on longer than I wanted them too.

Make that 88! So, today's high was 2 warmer than any high in any prior met winter on record!

The station in laurinburg NC which has been running since 1946 broke its winter record high as well by touching 85 today . Darn CAD , today had record potential here if the inversion had broke earlier !

Columbia SC officially hit 86 today. Augusta GA hit 88. Damn, that's hot.

Pretty close , think both Columbia and Wilmington average February and December highs above 60 now on the new normals leaving only January which averages upper 50s more so .
warmest station in NC averages close to 59 (58.8 to be exact , big diurnals though low is like 34) in January 1981-2010, Southport NC. Been running since 1800s though sadly looks like after 2016 it closed . Would have been cool to see 91-20 averages for it.

Well February 2021 was actually BN for a change! Baton Rouge NWS reporting station had a departure for the month of -4.3. The last few days of warmth erased some of the departures BN mid month from the Arctic airmass.
