I'm glad that the Euro has a storm and cold air, but I don't like that the ridge out west completely breaks down. That would shear out any shortwave.

Good thing at this range it could just be noise, wonder what the ensembles say about that.

Just comes down to timing with the various pieces. You want to get the cold air in out front, then run the system into it. Other option is a heavy backside phase between the streams (a riskier play)

I would feel better if it was inside 5 days instead of 9 days out.

The ball will be rolling this time next week and inbound over the latter half of next weekend.

This year isnt like others. Easy for the models to pick up on waves and h5 generalities from 10 days out. What happens when you have a dominant signal. Now getting down to back yard forecast, still need to get inside 5.

The 00z eps was similar for our area on the snow mean but it only had two members out of the 50 with snow and one was 9 inches, so it was highly skewed. Hopeful that this 12z run picks up on a higher number of members.
