Going on a date tonight, since it's gonna be chilly I went with a kinda greaser look.

Very clean, I like it. Good luck . Make sure you talk about cold fronts and the SER! That’s how I got my wife.

Having scoured today's posts after leaving the courthouse close to 6:15, just one thing to say ... I do not have to concern myself about whether it's gonna snow close by any time soon ... and the resulting lack of worry is somehow relaxing, if not actually cathartic ...

Carry on ... ;)

New house. Cold weather. Time for a fire. Gas fireplace. Finally turned it on today. I hate it. I've only ever had a wood burning fireplace. This sucks. Wish I could convert it, but I'm sure the cost will be astronomical.

Depends. Was the gas fireplace always gas? If not it’s less then $500. To convert gas into wood( full replacement can cost 1-3k depending on a few things.

First winter in an apartment. Been running the AC when it’s 29 degrees outside because of the heat coming in from my neighbors. Have yet to need any heat. Always miserable 70+ how do people sleep in that?

Can't compare climate, but ... I have both ... the gas is great for coming home and getting some atmosphere and some quick heat; the wood is for a long sit and enjoy ... maybe you can add a 2nd wood one if your floor plan allows, and have your choice ...

Always gas :/ That's a little less than I was thinking though! But haven't researched it yet. Just thinking of the masonry work alone in my market had me scared.

In the same fireplace? If so, that's what my parent's had and I agree with you! I loved it! Floor plan doesn't allow doing two, and my last house only had a fireplace in the basement instead of the living room so this was so looked forward to. Plus I loved having the backup heat/cooking assurance during power outages since we hadn't had a generator installed yet.

I own a Clayton Home so no fireplace here. ? Although I’m contemplating getting one of those Infrared fireplaces that are built into the entertainment center

No, I have 2 but many houses down this way have fireplaces with gas jets in the floor, so you can use ceramic logs or wood, and if wood, cut the gas off once it gets going. The only issue is ash ... gotta keep it clean on a per fire or two basis if you burn wood, or the jets can get messed up ...

Some of the newer homes they're building around here have either no or electric fireplaces. That would be even worse to convert I'm sure if not impossible.

My parents bought one from Costco last winter and they love it. They use it more then the real fireplace.

You've already heard it plenty, but I'll add in another...

Looking forward to that southeast winter storm that's going to happen in about this time period a month from now. ;) Just hope that in this case, it gives us in East GA and Central South Carolina some more love.

Also looking forward to torching like crazy after that and the bottom falling out for a couple of cold snaps in January, hoping to time another storm or two with the cold in that period.

Tuesday night and Wednesday night, lows are forecast to be 25,27 respectively! Man, I can’t imagine why the teens and single digits didn’t happen! ???

Its Nov 9, it's 25 this morning, no heat in sight....Nov snow or not, Nov record cold or not, I'm loving this.

But Rain Cold said the Whamby thread was only for complaining. Take your contentment elsewhere!
