Misc Fall - End of 2019 Whamby

Well it shows the last 3 digits of the phone number and it ain't my number, also it wouldn't send it to my email (or so I thought). Well then I checked my email and I have notifications that my FB password had been changed, my twitter password had been changed, my Ebay password had been changed (I haven't used Ebay in forever, probably need to just close that one) and I see Amazon emails going directly to my trash. I call Amazon back, I was very concerned someone was probably tapping out my Amazon card and no one could seem to do anything about it. This time Amazon tells me it appears someone hacked my email and were able to access my Amazon account that way.

While on the phone I start getting emails from Venmo (some of you will know what Venmo is, for those of you who do not it's basically an app you use to transfer money to other Venmo members), anyway it says thanks for setting up Venmo account, then another email says your bank account has been added and before I can tell the Amazon guy bye I've got 2 other Venmo emails stating I was now friends with "Seth White", followed by "you just gave Seth White $1600.00 and Seth thanks you"!! I freaked, called the bank and fortunately no activity. Basically they had setup a Venmo through my FB account that they also now had control over but no bank information available, so most likely a ploy to try to get me to click on that email. I had to call Synchrony Bank to cancel my Amazon card, had to change all my passwords and had to send a photo ID (with sensitive info redacted, DL#, DOB, etc) to Amazon to verify it was me and they will remove the two step process in 1-2 days. Hopefully at that time I can access that account and then change that one too.

So far disaster averted but dang it gave me a scare and is sooooooo frustrating!!

And this is why I have several other email accounts with notifications on changes to my main google account. If one has an issue, then I can quickly stop and reverse any changes. I also don't link all my accounts to the same one. Better to send some eggs to space, some to the other side of the world, and some to the bank vault than carry all of them around with you.

Got an acer laptop with 3D PAINT for this winter. Don’t see many talking about that upgrade for this winter could really fine tune details and boundaries of the thermal layer.
 
Last year has made me so doubtful that we can truly accurately predict what winter is going to be like from long range. So I don't lean either way for this winter.

Yes, the winter once again likely won’t be cold vs 1981-2010 based norms. But with all the great things life has to offer, why does this not surprising expectation take precedence? The SER rules. I can deal with that quite easily and my climate is much warmer than yours. In addition, I’m closer to the SER. I’d rather it not be dominating, but it won’t do us harm. And for someone like you in ATL area, you’ll still very likely at least have a snow threat at some point whereas I more than likely won’t even have a legit threat.
 
So I'm going to the App St game Halloween Night, and TWC is calling for rain/snow. Lol! I wish

GFS has snow 1-3” for WV, 1” western NC/TN line and wind whipped snow showers for Boone. CMC is heavy rain. EURO is well above normal temps followed by cold in early November. Coin toss as of right now but I would say snow is possible given all the moving parts it’s likely just a timing question.
 
Do any of y'all know what sort of weather monitoring systems the NWS uses at their locations?

Currently have a project, all of the bad US tornadoes in 2019 (radar loops), video will likely be soon altho it’s a lot to do, what is that song from twister when the movie ends called ? That would go nicely with it

Been pretty nice here too yeah October can still be hot and/or rain all month and we had the tornadoes but the sun has been out since and its pretty much been days of sun between so far quick moving storms
 
I have to make a phone call in about 20 minutes with a Weatherbell executive to sell some of my weather graphics. Wish me luck!
The plan is to redesign some of JB's winter forecast templates and several other commercial designs. Essentially to add more soap to his bathtub. Lol

If it wasn't for the Nationals magical run, I think the Dodgers would have won it. They would have beat the Cards and the Astros

Sorry for the Suspense.
The call ended up going well, My job right now is to design a template, at least for testing and trial atm, more potentially later. Their purpose for this would be that JB and JD aren't the most tech-savvy people in the world, surprise surprise and need a template for them to use easily. I am working on a prototype that should be ready soon, most likely this weekend. Nothings set in stone, but if the testing goes well, I could get free Weatherbell Subscriptions :p

So, here's a bit of a story with one of our cats that happened this month.

I can't talk about this story without some context first, and I'm pretty sure I've talked about this some here before. There's a house one house down from us that has been abandoned for about a decade. The owner used to have a lot of cats and when they left they did not take them. So, we had at least 20+ cats roaming around for a while then.

But that's not the point of the story. Our gray cat became pregnant sometime last month. She decided that her place to birth her kittens was going to be in that house (one of the locks on that house that was put on by the city does not work and sometimes you have homeless people break in there for a place to sleep so the door is "openable"). So she got stuck there for two weeks, and this is before it dropped to reasonable temperatures. We had given up on her showing back up, then with my dad's walk by the house, he heard her meow. He wasn't sure about it, then he heard it the second time. So, he thought that she had been hit by a car and was injured in the bushes, but when he turned to look...

He saw her in the window.

This was a surprise that we didn't expect. Dad then broke open that door that is openable and she came right out. Other than being a little skittish to start, she's turned out to be fine. Not long after, dad saw what he thought to be "strange kittens" and then when he saw her carrying one of her kittens around he said "wait...". After a minute, he put two and two together and said something that I actually theorized, that she used that house for the birth of her kittens.

So, the adult cat managed to live for two weeks in a place that really probably wasn't even habitable for animals and was able to nurse kittens for that time period to the point where 3 of what was probably 4 kittens survived.

Context: My mom does not like the idea of indoor pets. Me and my dad would like them but 1 shoots down 2.
