Latter part of January is still a wintry month. Going to have to wait until February to get the usual warmup toward spring.

That is a good thing. People wait all year for a shot at winter weather and then many want to warm up during some of the small amount of weeks we have to score. I am in favor of cold this time of year.

Yeah I’m leaning this forecast on torching the first half mainly, then a cooler second half. It’s hard to turn around a torch that has left it scars with high low temps.

This sounds a lot like 1989 to me. If things take this path snow and ice may make a return to NC and SC. GA may be done with major winter weather though. The mountains of NC had accumulating snow into April that year and many places got a freeze in May.

Ice/mix looks more likely to me than a southern sliding Miller A.

Wasnt just the mts that had accumulating snow....had 1.5" at my house, its a friend of mines birthday ( Apr 11th) and it actually even stuck to the roads, actually happened during the day while everyone was at his bday party. Latest accumulating snow on record here.

Sunny clear winds out sw at 40 degrees this morning… forecast says 57 but idk , it’s not typical to have such a low diurnal without clouds or a pounding nw ne wind… I’d wager it overperforms today 62-63 if not more! Enjoy it y’all

44.1°F overnight min at my PWS. This morning feels warm compared to what it's been!

Every day with a min above 34°F per the NWS forecast here. Notable change of pace considering January was extremely cold, until last Sunday all but 4 days had a min below the freezing mark at my PWS.

Gfs keeps us above freezing at 850mb for the entirety of the run. Most of the time we’re 5C+ above.
