Pattern Fab-February 2020 The dark age

There’s no chance the snow I see in the mountains will be anywhere close to what I just saw. I’ve only seen rates like that around here one time and I think it was 02’ or 04’

Can’t believe I went home to Apex this one weekend ... we will see if Charlotte sees some snow but if they do I’m going to gouge my eyes out for leaving:/ CONGRATS TO ALL THE WINNERS out on the board what a great surprise

let’s talk about the real winner here which is the NAM model been showing this for days on end and everyone was calling it crazy .. this will be remembered for future events
You also have to hand it to the RAP from it's run last night. We laughed at it...
but little did we know.

This was not suppose to happen.... over performer, clear RN/SN line with this setup, it’s moving north tho so enjoy it while it last View attachment 32707

Not insanely surprised but happy to see! Our warm layer was very thin and reserved to the boundary layer just above the surface. We got these heavy rates to fall early enough to get that changeover! Models probably underestimated the front side rates and bingo!

Now my question is since we got snow today it will probably keep our highs well below forecasted I'm suddenly also looking at tonight possibly changing over at some point. Would that be possible considering the forecasted high is 47, 35 right now and the low tonight is 35? I think it could get interesting tonight as well.

ain't even close to done

Nah, thicknesses with rise with the approaching coastal, and 850s/925s should warm tonight, would be nice tho

NAM sounding for 18Z in the Triad--note the warm nose just below 850. The shutout will probably continue here.

Precipitation smoothing out and brightbanding going on to my south now that it’s moving into a colder airmass, evident on CC, probably bout to get some snow here
what time do you think this will make it to ballantyne area? think it will be cold enough for flakes down here?

Accumulating on cars and grass in Spartanburg and some spots of the road starting to stick. Temps still dropping and still dumping snow

To everyone talking about how it’s snowing to beat the band and accumulating on surfaces .... thats great and all but SHOW US THE PICS AND EVEN VIDEOS IF U GOT THEM ... people who aren’t seeing snow want to see the glory
