Pattern December, Make analogs relevant again

Considering its felt like the 0z has been Happy Hour lately I bet we do see some sort of storm. Either fantasy land or Christmas coming back for the areas that it showed a couple times.

They're a lot more bullish in Oklahoma I see lol

Down here it has to be snowing before anyone hypes

Ffs like why are professional mets posting click bait snowmaps to the tenth of an inch on social media when it's at least a week or more out. Ugh no wonder the public has trust issues with meteorologists...
Dude this is getting ridiculous.. I saw a few meteorologists in the Atlanta area showing model output of snow on Christmas a few days ago. It’s plain irresponsible... where’s the snow now!? Lmfao

I understand what you're saying but I don't think it's that puzzling. If I go with you to your favorite sports team game and while you're cheering for your team, imagine I sit next to you and take every opportunity to tell you and remind you that your team sucks and mine is better than yours, well you may eventually get agitated. I may be right and your team does suck and you know it sucks, but you just want to enjoy the hope of rooting for your team. You may not mind some discussion about my team and how good mine is, but ultimately I'm at your game and I should let you enjoy your game.

The reality is most everybody here on these boards are not academics who enjoy general conversation about the overall science of weather. Most everyone here including myself are snow weenies, plain and simple. So although sure there's some discussion about warmth and the likelihood of it as there should be, to be constantly reminded of the eminent inevitability of warm is essentially contrary to most here's hopes for cold and snow. Thus the agitation.

I'm not saying I care one way or another personally, I take the bad with the good, but I think that's ultimately the rub.

Life is sports.

I hear you and I can get down with that to an extent. I’m a Pack fan, and so I understand agitation, frustration, and disappointment and that on a decadal scale! Compound that with being a snow lover, and it’s a double whammy. Where I would diverge, analogy-wise, is that I’d view a weather board as watching a game at a bar rather than sitting in your home stands. Everyone has equal, or should have equal standing to discuss the weather they love or what they see. It’s different if somebody is constantly calling a specific poster out or purposely trying to annoy people. But if we want a forum for honest discussion, learning, and accuracy, then it seems like intolerance of an undesired viewpoint is not the best approach.

This looks familiar unfortunately...and I hope this trend reverses. The Pacific being alive and dumping mild air into a lot of the US. We saw that for a lot of last winter.

I wouldn't say mild, it's still 40s and 50s across most of the south next week according to the GFS which is frigid compared to last year.

I don't necessarily mean "it's warm!" I mean this setup with the Pacific alive is going to keep it from really getting cold.

Still a respectable cold shot on this run near Xmas but it continues to look more piss poor as we near verification

Bro!! This thing is looking plain stupid and sorry now! We were so excited about the cold and storm prospects just 24 hours ago and now look where we are! We should have paid more attention to you when you talked about GFS cold bias. I didn't think the GFS was that off but I stand corrected. Sorry, and I will pay more attention next time. This sucks!

I knew we weren't going to see what I saw that long past 0z run and 18z the other day throw around, but this is even further than I expected by the GFS. I figured add about 5-10 degrees. I mean we were talking about how it was silly that one run was beach weather and the next one immediately was...bundle up.

The GFS upgrade...really was a downgrade.
