It really is. 12 in Athens would beat the jan 85 outbreak which saw temps of 18 during the afternoon. Athens reached 0 by midnight with a morning low of 4 below. If this verified it would truly be exceptional for downslope regions of ne ga and sc.

WOW! Just a sample of the kind of front that is heading our way for this time period...In Kimbal, a small town in southern Nebraska the north part of the town was 19 degrees while on the south side it was 42 degrees at 12:30 pm. potter Nebraska fell from 40 degrees to 7 degrees in 40 minutes!

That town went from 39 to 2 in an hour and a half

NBM has Atlanta at 19 on Friday 8 am so I would go a hair colder and say 18 will be Friday morning's low. Looks like 11 for Saturday morning and not above freezing until Christmas day around 1 pm.
