Are there any mitigating factors to this that wouldn’t mean lights out and a week worth of clean up? This seems so much more extreme than what any local met has discussed.....

Just left a cold rain in Charlotte to come home to a cold rain in Columbia. Wish I could’ve stayed in Charlotte to see some wintry weather.
A transition to sleet. The HREF is an upgrade to the SREF, so I am not 100% sure how well it performs. It's just kind of showing the idea the SREF has had for a couple days now. I prefer the HREF maps. I don't like the way the temps are looking for a lot of areas that are supposed to switch by late this afternoon outside the mountains, but who knows. We'll see.

It has to be I'm sitting at 36° with a DP of 35. We have some wet snow mixing in but no ZR

Basically 5 miles away from my house getting freezing rain. Don't know if I should be grateful or a little sad I probaby won't be seeing any wintry precip this storm.

NE GA mountains will get destroyed if that elongated heavy band of precip running across Northern MS/AL/GA starts heading northeast.
