Misc Cold Season Complaining

Do you just mean the airport? Highest lowest of ONDJFMA that I could find was 25 in 2021-2, 2012-3, and 1949-50.

Then 24 in 2005-6 and 1912-3.

For SAV: warmest coldest was 33 in 1879-80.
Yeah, I think he means the airport. Speaking of KATL, they are averaging 67.8 for the low so far this month. Meanwhile:

KPDK: 63.0
KFYY: 63.5
KFCC: 62.5

Its absurd.

I’m not hopeful this winter. It honestly feels like we might get a year here where not only do we not get cold or snow but we’re battling 60’s-70’s through the heart of winter and can count the number of freezes on one hand. This might be the year of no return. If not this year I’m certain I will see it in my lifetime.

Yeah at this point I’m a bit defeated. I’ve given up hoping for winter weather imby. I’m sure it’s still possible but I think we’re stuck in a pacific rut that we just don’t understand and we can’t get out of. And until that changes we’re snowless, and probably not even close . Hopefully the mountains can somewhat bounce back the next few months and I can run up there to get my snow fix. Could be completely wrong and I may be, but I have absolutely rock bottom expectations.

Airports. SMH. Lots of broken stations even outside the airports. Our weather records suck and at this point just using satellites interpolations would provide more accurate averages

Yeah, this problem is widespread. KMIA is comically warm compared to pretty much every other station.

i don’t think 155 is a cat 5

...MILTON RAPIDLY INTENSIFIES INTO A CATEGORY 5 HURRICANE...

Data from an Air Force Reserve Hurricane Hunter aircraft indicate
that Milton has strengthened to a category 5 hurricane. The
maximum sustained winds are estimated to be 160 mph (250 km/h) with
higher gusts. Data from the aircraft also indicate that the
minimum pressure has fallen to 925 mb (27.31 inch
es).

The last thing we need is a potential ice storm with all the weakened trees.

I am for an above average Winter, personally.

Besides ice, isn’t just having cold going to be a major problem there this fall and winter due to infrastructure/utility issues? Is everyone going to have heat? When will they get their utilities/heat back?

It looks like you can get to two of the big three ski slopes - Beech and Appalachian. Sugar doesn’t seem like there’s a way to get to it so hopefully they can get tynecastle open by December.

It seems frivolous to wonder about but that’s a huge deal to the mountain economy
What is the obstruction to Sugar?
