I think we were gonna get a foot off this storm about 12hrs outView attachment 166012
But that can’t be? I was told it was perfect and becoming self aware. That damn Euro AI been ticking north with a vengeance.
If we wake up and this was a troll job by modelsThe Icon and the Rgem say this NW trend is false, but the Nam was the 1st one to show a big warm nose getting deep into Tenn and NC back on the 10th. Hopefully it'll be right this time too with it's NW trend.

Still not over that one..That was possibly the biggest bust in central NC winter history. Thankfully, I was too young to remember how bad it was (8 years old).
We went from “a foot of snow to a foot of sunshine” in the Triad. I guess it was our penance for January 2000.
Most of you will not remember this, but we had a big bust in the Carolinas in Dec 1988 too. Warnings everywhere and not 1 flake of snow. A little sleet got as far north as Augusta GA and that was it.Still not over that one..
Probably bc it was 40 years agoMost of you will not remember this, but we had a big bust in the Carolinas in Dec 1988 too. Warnings everywhere and not 1 flake of snow. A little sleet got as far north as Augusta GA and that was it.
why do people think foreign fringe models that don't have any of the plane/local data are going to outdo the american models? i dont understand
I remember it very well. We actually had the warning up for over 24 hours as this was supposed to be a 2 round event. Neither one showed up.Probably bc it was 40 years ago
1988 did we even have a reliable satellite much less understand how the atmosphere worked to simulate it?
Yes, I think NWP in some form or fashion has been around since the 1950s but it was obviously inferior to today. I recall hearing the 1993 Superstorm was supposedly picked up by computer modeling pretty far in advance.
We had something called the LFM model back then. All of the NWS discussions from back then are available to be read and that one was mentioned a lot. The Columbia, Atlanta and Raleigh offices handled them back then.Yes, I think NWP in some form or fashion has been around since the 1950s but it was obviously inferior to today. The radars in use in 1988 were from the late 1950's The radars the NWS uses now were starting to be developed.ah yes. didnt we start making the weather radar network with all the excess ww2 military radars left over or something
Even if I score my hours per inch is going to be embarrassing and I took some time off from this storm at times since I couldn’t stand tracking for 10+ straight days.Man, we have put in the work with this storm. I mean, a truly bodacious and heroic effort.

when you need a last minute NW trend to get 30 minutes of flurries. Yay? I guess?
What’s up with the 10 day ice storm? lol.
Because all models fail. It’s in their nature. Some models fail less than others, but due to the probability of failure, we look for other alternatives.why do people think foreign fringe models that don't have any of the plane/local data are going to outdo the american models? i dont understand
