Putting this here because heck, why not and I was looking at reanalysis for a bit.
Feb 2014, the LP system hugged close to the coast with a lot of CAD. In some areas that'd be more remarkable than Jan 2014 which was mostly a cold snow event outside of deep in the south (specifically, my house with mom and dad, but I was not there, thank goodness).
I honestly don't know. Both systems are up there rivalry wise for me on the memories. You have pro forecasters saying this is closer to Jan 2014 as well, but I'm afraid of this being more like Jan 2018 even though there is one piece missing here.
But today is TREND DAY! Just not northwest.
This will be the only storm in the next 10 years where those predictions were wrong
So you mean to tell me, we will have the same annoying posts every single storm? EW.

As bad as this current look is I would rather have this than run after run of a big dig only to see it disappear in the last 24 hrs....at least this way I expect nothing and can only bust to the good.
Yes. But for the next 10 years they will be right. And everyone will look smart. So they will probably belong in the storm thread unfortunately

Man, Physics models etc, Got a long way to go, before they can ever garner the ability to forecast our weather with precision. Just a fact. But its fun to take on the challenge.
Yeah the one time a NW trend would help me and not hurt me...and well...not happening I guess

The Euro has given me an inch of snow for a couple of runs, but with the way it's drying up, I'd hold some concern that most of the Ukie solutions we've seen are very, very much on the table.

Thankfully the AI models are already doing it better, overall. We weather model chasers just always look for a way that it could snow, even when all guidance says not likely.
Remember when the NW trend was a thing? Good times.

A lot of people are going to forget how good suppression is after this one is over. This is only going to make the cliff higher for a lot of us

This was particularly worse because people took the Canadian seriously. That combined with the Euro doing ONE OP run of a big hit with it recently. Everything aside from those have been crap for days.
I will never forgive the Canadian.

Anytime someone on I-10 can get snow in the South, we should celebrate that! Nevermind that NO season totals of snow will be higher than mine come Wednesday! I’m excited for them, truly!

I was never in the running for this latest storm, so I'm just happy for the folks at the southern end of Alabama who are going to see something they rarely get to see. My nephew is so excited! He's 11, and he's only seen snow once.

Canadian was the first model to show anything decent from this system this morning. I guess a blind squirrel finds a nut every now and then. Hopefully there’s some surprises with the deep south snow coming up.
Still well within the range where we’ve seen it happen before, even if the clock is ticking now.
The canadian literally wiffed on most of us last run. It did horrible for the upcoming event.
