Misc Cold Season Complaining

Got a bad feeling about the GFS

This is where the storm, models amps just a bit more and more each run. We probably all end up with sleet and freezing rain. I feel better about being in Troutman right now, but we’re got so much further to go.

At least some of yall will get the snow! I left for Christmas in the south while it was snowing in Cutler, the most snow I've seen since I moved here and because I was in GA, I missed it all. Now where I use to live in GA is getting the snow......I give up!!!!! I hope yall get good snow and that everyone and can enjoy it! Be safe!!!!!

I am about 40 miles NE of Atlanta but, I am definitely getting more worried about this being a nasty ice storm.

Last ice storm I remember being in Georgia for was February 2015 and I remember having no power for about 18 hours and hearing the sound of branches snapping in the dark. Keep in mind that was with temperatures only just below freezing around 32-30.

I do think we may squeeze a few hours of snow out at the onset of precipitation but after that turns into a IP/ZR mess and I would definitely rather have IP.

Not a complaint, but probably doesn't belong on main thread. 9 inches for Etowah county? Did GFS participate in Wake and Bake? Holy cow that will be our best snow in decades.

Give me 2-3 inches of snow, sleet (concrete mix) with a topping of freezing rain to make it look like a winter wonderland - I’d absolutely be satisfied. Looks like that’s where MBY is heading
Be absolutely thrilled with that outcome

I just want enough to have to put my Jeep Wrangler in 4Low and have fun.

My main gripe with it is the fact that this wave is so flat there won't be any big winners in it. Id be willing to drive to the NC mountains if it were 6-8 plus inches of snow, but it looks like a flat 1-3 in most NC locations evenly distributed in all regions.

Same here, but with my FJ Cruiser. Hasn't snowed here since I bought it. Though I have had it out in the snow in Blowing Rock and Boone.

This is from the FFC video put out earlier. Increasing probability of at least 0.25” Of ice accumulation. This could lead to some problems if it is realized. I know a lot of focus is on snow, but we cant overlook this aspect of the system.View attachment 161014
After the way FFC handled Helene last year this probably means all snow, no ice

Man, if I didn't already sort of have plans for Friday, I'd really be tempted to tell my parents I'm driving to the northwest corner of the state after I leave work on Friday, and I'll see y'all on Sunday.

The ensembles for where my family reside there look amazing.

Only thing with this thought that's not happening is it's been years since I've long distance drove on my own.

That’s still a funky trajectory for the Upstate! Jimmy gonna have his snow board put out and have to watch an inch of sleet bounce off of it, with 4 cottonball flakes mixed in at onset! Seen it 100 times, sorry Jimbo, but have a drink on me!

Sorry, but if you extrapolate that west, you are taking the absolute best area of AL completely out of the snow, which isn’t going to happen. NW AL is guaranteed 2-4” unless this cuts up through AL, which isn’t going to happen either.
I’m sure your qualifications match @bouncycorn
