Jan 1988. Debbie Gibson and Tiffany rocked the top 10 charts, and we had a foot of snow with temps in the low-mid 20s.

I have imagined this any times myself. I swear one winter in the mid 2000s a cold front had swept through with high winds and hand to God when I got to work at Concord Mills, a slender line of clouds was over the mall... and it was spitting sleet and snow. Didn't last long but always wondered had the winds just perfectly blown over the farthest point to point over LKN and create that cloud???

Seems to always be a week of warm weather in January(65-75') that wakes up tulips and other bulbs. By Feb they are already above ground.

There was a storm, I think January 2008, where the line was so fine that I could see the storm cloud to my east in Durham and we had absolutely nothing while the eastern part of the state received upwards of 8” of snow. This might have even been in December? I can’t remember right now.

I wish I had paid attention last Sunday when my oldest son saw a lot of squirrel activity. I’m sure I’ve mentioned this on here somewhere but before the December 4th, 2002 ice storm I saw an assembly line of squirrels gathering leaves and running up the trees to reinforce their nests. Last year before the January snows we had they were doing the same. I can’t say that I’ve seen that type of activity yet this year but I really do believe once it’s witnessed either a cold snap is on the way or some type of winter storm.

Summer start to 2023. Very warm rain with no cold behind with another low to bring even warmer air.

Brief? I'd argue that honestly. This actually has some longevity to it. Normally with our Arctic blast, we all get one day in the 30s and then it's warming back up. Many areas will have at least 3 days for 30s for highs. That is longer than your average Arctic blast in the South.

Agreed, longer than normal for sure, I just meant it’s not here to stay for a week or more like we had been seeing.
 
We suck at this game...... Somebody needs to step up and break this curse we are under. This glorious pattern is going to be over soon and we will have absolutely nothing to show for it. Sad, really sad.
