All these weather sites are like TV plans, each have something good but not one has that perfect plan.

i hate to be that guy but i can remember struggling along with plymouth state soundings, links from gary gray's millenniumweather.com and ARL meteograms.

Christmas 1983 was very cold in Atlanta. High of 16 and low 0. Is there any chance the cold this year will rival that ?

Ever since they mentioned historic cold here the models are a tad less historic ? we'll see I think it comes down to whether it snows or not

If it means more snow I would prefer the arctic air to stay close but not dry out things by moving too far south.

I want highs in the single digits and wind chills of -40 or colder. Anything less will be a disappointment.

I agree, I wouldn’t call this Extreme cold, it’s cold but not record setting.

Because it’s a smoothed out ensemble mean ! You must be looking at OP runs around the long range because if you are that’s the mistake, especially at the surface. Ensembles have been consistently cold with highs in the 30s and low in the 20s upper 10s. That’s really cold for the SE.

Some just need to move to Madison Wisconsin because the expectations in the SE is insane lol. 20+ degree BN is like you said, anomalous. That’s like mid 70s right now if it was the other way
