I agree they can be both. In my opinion, the foothills is more of a physical region description. The Triad is more of a metro region description. The western parts of what's considered the Triad are considered (by many) in the foothills. The eastern part where you're at is definitely in the Piedmont.
Of course this is all muddied anyway because the term piedmont itself can mean foothills. But that's besides the point. ?
Also, that's my short answer on the subject believe it or not. I'd give a longer one but don't want to 100% out myself as a geography nerd just yet..

Might as well start a thread for the January 15th- February 10th storms. Should have a few storms within that time period or we truly suck and should never have winter again.
It's amazing we can go from Sept-Dec and get 0 new members then winter gets here and they flow in hourly
