Don’t worry, the 12Z Euro gives you lots of ZR. So, you wouldn't miss out. See maps posted earlier.
No matter how it starts off, it always seems to end up the same way: Climo. I'll just keep this one handy for the next failure.

I'm definitely aware of what the Euro just showed (in fact, I said in the thread that before I go look for myself...was that a south shift on the freezing rain?), but the fact that the GFS op shows a solution that is...probably dubious given the CAD is worth a mention.
The temps on the GEFS may be closer to what's actually seen (CAD tends to work here but the last time it caused a surprise winter weather wise was 2004, so I have some doubts about ice).
Edit: There's been winter storms since then, it's just 2004 was the last time there was a surprise with ice.
