It’s in Dubuque Iowa! Where I live now. At a place called Mines of Spain, near Julian Dubuque’s grave!

Looking for advice from current/former students: I graduated last year with a bachelors degree in Biology, what would be the chances for me to get into grad school for Atmospheric Science? Any tips or suggestions?
I was considering applying for atmospheric science programs until I decided to go into healthcare. From what I remember, you need more math than what BS biology majors have. Calc 2, calc 3, and.... something else. Differential equations, or something like that. Also your physics course from undergrad needs to be calc-based, not-trig based. And from what I remember from those giving me advice, learning a bit of computer programming would help, too.

One day I'll go to school for meteorology. But GOD I hate math. HATE it.

I don't hate math, but my undergrad didn't require a lot of it. Just some basic calc and "finite mathematics" which was a catch all for things that weren't calculus (really easy imo). Physics was algebra based and I only was required to take one semester with a lab, rather than two. So those things put me at a disadvantage

Since graduation, I totally changed gears and have been working in IT (that should help, right?). My original plan was to go apply for Med School; but since COVID and my own health problems I decided that I never want to spend any time in a hospital again unless absolutely necessary. So now I'm stuck in this limbo of a career in IT, which I don't hate, but I am also not passionate about.

WRAL's Nights of Lights event in Raleigh is off to a horrible start. It's one of those drive thru light shows. You have to purchase tickets ahead of time for a certain time to enter. Well, people waited 2 to 3 hours to still get in, a lot of people said not all of the lights were working, and then they end up closing it before everyone that had a ticket for tonight could get in. I have tickets for.tomorrow night, but I am going to try to talk the family into going to another one closer by that we went to last weekend again instead. They must have sold way too many tickets for each time slot. Just very poor planning. And then tonight they said the volume of cars attending the event will be be adjusted immediately, and all ticket holders impacted will be contacted via email. How are they going to do that? Cancel a whole bunch of tickets and give refunds? Reschedule tickets already bought to.anothwr date that people might not be able to go? I can't believe how bad this thing was planned.

Anyone else collect baseball cards? If so, what do you think about the Topps Heritage Collection? I think they’re pretty cool. Look like a cross between 1950’s and 1990’s style cards.

I’ve ski’d in 3+ feet of powder on the back bowls at Vail when I was in college. I lost one of my ski poles that day. Good times.

Went to Lake Louise in Banff, Canada one year. They had just went through a 2 week period of Storm after storm, so lots of fresh snow. I was coming down the trail (which takes like 30 minutes to make it all the way down those mountains out west), and I had to pee. So in my infinte florida logic, i would just waltz out into the woods real quick and pee on a tree. I took one step of the groomed trail and sank to my waist. I had to use my pole as an anchor and shimmy myself out! I learned that day you don't walk off the trail. ?

So a bunch of well off kids decided it would be fun to sell drugs now they all got busted . Sad part is they will be fine , not much jail time . These people are cancer .
