That was the last ATL major ZR and it extended to Augusta taking out the Eisenhower Tree at Augusta National. Tony (@dsaur )got a big hit as I recall. I (in Dunwoody) got my biggest sleet since 2/1988. It was a major storm with a combo of ZR, IP, and SN.

But, this wasn’t the last major winter storm I experienced. That honor goes to the historic SE coastal winter storm of January, 2018, which was also a combo of the 3 with 0.50” of ZR (heaviest since 1922) followed by a period of moderate sleet, and then ending as heavily falling snow. Total sleet and snow was near 2” and it stuck around for an amazing 4 days with hardly any melting in shaded areas due to the coldest week in decades!
I would love to have another February 2014.

View attachment 49426Hendersonville NC 12/10/18. 14-16” on the ground. We were so disappointed with our 2 inches of sleet that we went up to NC and it was a treat.
Sorry, been reminiscing lately lol
Hendersonville seems to get some of the best snowfall totals with gulf storms. We got around 12 inches with this one.

Give me 20 inches of snow please, thanks
For realism sake I'd rather have a high qpf storm with like 6 inches of snow, an inch or two of sleet and like .25 of ZR. I know something like that isn't gonna happen this year because of La Nina but it would be a nice hypothetical storm that wouldn't be too far out of the question lol

6in of wet snow on top of 4in of sleet on top of 1in of ice. Boom!

October is usually the month I start digging holes on property and placing ice cubs. Typically get frost/freeze and first black ice event coming soon. Gotta jump on it before the first wind snow in November at 2am.

Here's to hoping Lebron James falls on his ass and has to miss the NBA finals, and therefore the Lakers lose the finals.
