Here's the poll, I'm thinking of doing one myself here.
Some of the responses in that old thread are pretty much the same now. Some are pro ice, others against, other against those wanting ice. lol We really don't change do we?

I remember it was like 100 in early March
then April we get the severe, but if it happened 2 months earlier, would have been winter storm setups. Oh and the May freeze then ULL

Exactly ! What’s wrong with wanting the worst possible solution for civilization and chaos! I want it dang it! I want to be cut off from Raleigh due to extreme flooding of the neuse and little rivers ! I want an ice storm to crush my soul! An EF5 tornado to toss me! A category 5 hurricane that pushes the sea 100 miles inland to me !
Might as well throw an earthquake in there Lick. (like Charleston 1886) ?

I think the better questions are how long and what's on the other side.
Could range from a quick SER/warm sector then cold front to the vortex dropping south towards the GLs/SE Canada and giving us a awesome pattern, it settling around Atlantic Canada for CAD or getting a shallow suppressed GOA ridge and stuff just dumps out west and we roast like last March

Yeah honestly I want an ice storm .. I’m a weather enthusiast .. I am not enthused by 34 degree rain .. I have yet to see more than .10 inches of ice in like my entire life .. yes gimme what old man winter has to offer ..

Yea, this area hasn't seen a significant icing event since 02 I think. Been very close to several though. Seems like the line between big ice and nuisance ice is always between RDU and Hillsborough.
