Very honest comment: the FV3 beyond day 7 sometimes makes me think we're killing the wrong model, although it's better than the GFS when we're at day 7 and closer.

If I have the ability to, I'm absolutely checking out on town if we get a nasty ice storm given the issues my parents had with 2/12/14, but if it's not that bad, I'll stick around and just take pictures of the ice accretion.

Yes, I see that it didn’t take us long to go down the rabbit hole again...
If there will be a solid/consistent winter storm showing up on the models, please let there not be any hype! It seems like that last "event" (that busted) there was way too much hype, and it turned out to be a big bust for most that was expecting to see snow. When and if there will be a big wintet storm, hype it up as it's ongoing in real time, that way we won't be disappointed.

Hey @Rain Cold the FV3 260hr event has sleet/zr falling in the upper 20’s. Temps won’t be an issue with this one..
Great subs and they are huge supporters of first responders, especially Fire and LEO. Portion of their profits go to support those agencies

I would love a ice storm.
I would take it in a heartbeat but I also live in a neighborhood with no trees under ground utilities and a build in generator. I would be ok as long as I had enough gas and firewood.

Have a serious question. Why do some Mets say “rain mixing with freezing rain” ? It can’t be both can it? Unless you’re teetering back and forth between 32-33?

I have little to no interest in significant icing because unless the power company for the southern part of this county has improved in 5 years, if it's pretty massive, the power could well be gone for near a week. I wouldn't mind some (but my "some" might be quite a bit) but as I said, if this time period turns to reality and it's above 0.75" (that might even be pushing it), I'm leaving town (it'd at least be what I'd want to do).
And my mom would probably agree with me. My idea could well just lead to all of us hopping in the car and driving away.
