Misc 2019 Banter & Friendly Conservation

No one even mentioned their beloved FV3 this afternoon and I can see why: toss what we hate and hug what we love. It’s understandable really it is. My first golf tourney of the year is this weekend. This torch can’t get here soon enough View attachment 11381
Let me know how that 384 hour time frame pans out for ya. ?

And for my next number, here's one I like to call "Only 10 Days Away."
Since there's nothing really exciting showing up yet, the 10 day Euro isn't really all that far away from a very big dog for parts of the SE and inland up the coast. There are 3 pieces of energy (red Xs) that 1) If they are real, 2) Aren't modeled correctly in terms of their positioning (and they likely are not), and 3) Interact in the right way, could give you a big Gulf Miller A that strengthens rapidly and moves up the coast. The general area I would favor heavy snow would be within the red dashed line area. Of course, the next run will look totally different. But it shows you how the pattern can produce for some areas. Energy and cold, guys. If you got both of those, you're at least in the game. At D10, this really isn't that far away at all from showing something big:

It's being adversely affected by the government shutdown.

It’s a sad day when mods are posting day 10 maps. I hope the higher powers will show grace.

Uh-oh give him mercy. The negatives are trying to change him to the dark side. Lol
Gotta stick and move. Offense, defense. Don't make no difference... I stay on the field baby!

Ok here we go guys. I decided to start a gofundme page so I can raise money to buy 2 of the WeatherFlow Smart Home Weather Station. One for here in Hartselle, Alabama and the other one for Minor Hill, Tennessee. I like to study the difference between the 2 homes. For instance when spring hits. Here in Hartselle the leaves tend to leaf out about 2 weeks earlier then it does in Minor Hill. Same thing when it comes to fall. If I get enough raised I will link both location to my name so all the forum can also keep up with things also. I have done research on quite a few of the weather stations and determine this would work best for this forum and me. Here is the link for the go fund me page.https://www.gofundme.com/weather-st...board_a&rcid=fee482d397634e6088129bddf76b6d74

My patience is wearing a little thin with some folks here. It's like we have a bunch of packbackers roaming around and whining about every little minute, virtually irrelevant detail in the pattern that's still no less than 10 days from being "favorable" for anything substantial in our neck of the woods, as I've been saying over, over, & over again.

I swear a retrograding AK ridge showing up on a long range ensemble doesn’t usually bode well down the road. I’ve been copy and pasting snow maps for a long time. I should know better than anyone

Fortunately, most of that is over in the complaint thread now. DO NOT go in there! :)

You have a background in all this stuff. Other people don't. I can imagine that's probably frustrating, but people don't know why an Aleutian low is good sometimes and sometimes it isn't. Maybe in this situation having the ridge up there is best. But people don't necessarily know that. All that seems real right now is that the primary tools most people have at their disposal to look don't look all that great for the timeframe for which they have legitimate skill.

We don’t want it pulling west of AK. Great if it builds poleward. Or we get a studly NAO if heights want to lower in the NW.

It's not really that, certainly people who are smart enough to figure out most of what I say actually need to patient and because they aren't are having a selective bias to see everything wrong with infinitesimal details that rarely mean anything this far out in a large-scale pattern. It's little better than the people who get frustrated over not seeing fantasy storms on every single operational model run over 7-10 days out.

!!!PSA!!!
If you're living and dying by every model run every single day, you may suffer from insanity!
Diagnose your insanity now with this free simple test! You have model insanity if:
  • You live and die each model run
  • You believe one model run will be final
  • You only look at the surface and don't listen to professional opinions
If you have any of these, treat them with a shot of reality and handcuffs to prevent repetitive posts. If your condition gets worse, us doctors may have to lock you up in a padded cell!

My punishment.
