Misc 2018 Banter & Venting Thread

Just got back from read the main storm thread and this seems to be the general theme last hour from some :D:D:D Lmao. Seriously though...it's too early to be jumping off the cliff as I clearly remember last years storm didn't even get properly forecast until within 24 hours or so of the event. I guess you can argue the ensembles are hanging on too, but today's runs all going north and warm have pulled the excitement out of me. I'm not confident for anything other than a nuisance event outside mountains, north of 40.
 
I'm going to wait until 00z before calling a trend. If the 00z models look like crap, it's not a good sign. But the EPS and GEFS suggest that it is way too early to call this a bust.
 
I’m not jumping the cliff yet. There is a few days before the storm and the models will continue to have no idea on the storm until probably Thursday or Friday.
 
Which one has a better chance- panthers win out the rest of games and win the superbowl or CLT goes a 8+inch snowfall ?

We’ve added over 20 new NC members today alone . The Carolina crowd ( both states included ) is probably a bigger demographic now vs the Alabama , Georgia and Tenn crowd which is awesome. We’ve also added new members from Virginia today . No one is closing the thread , this happens every winter when people realize a system won’t give their backyard the impacts they want . It’s called jealousy

100% jealousy- I’ve been jealous for a few years. Just hope this year my backyard is white and not muddy.

I was honestly pretty happy for you guys in the last early December event I ended up taking matters into my own hands and drove about 30 miles NW to see some snow just in case another storm didn't come. Pretty sure this winter will probably have more especially since we're in an El Nino which are backloaded in Jan & Feb.
 
I just had to cancel my reservations to Sugar Mountain this weekend due to family matters. Pretty bummed, but such is life. Hope you guys score bigly amounts of sner

Lol even if I wasn't in the direct threat or I end up getting nothing, there is still a chance of something in the SE. You only close a thread if all support is lost for days. I remember we've had horrible days run wise only for the next or the one after to be great. It's all part of the ride.
 
Yep this is pretty typical. I can’t remeber any storms that the models were perfect all the way through. Hopefully these 00z runs can bring the momentum back. Usually when the north trends starts though you are screwed.

I dont know if this is the right place to ask this but I was wondering about the members who have a meteorologist tag by their names. Are they actually meteorologists or is it a tag you earn for so many posts? Am I really stupid for asking this? Lol

Perfect place to ask. No stupid questions on this forum. That's whats so great about this site. Meteorologist tags are true Meteorologists. Hope this helps.

10 verbal signs of north trend denial:

1. Ensembles don’t support the op
2. Soundings supported sleet but surface showed rain? Toss
3. Wedge is always underdone
4. Rates will overcome the shallow warm layer
5. 1036 HP with temps that warm? Yeah right. Toss
6. An LP can’t barrel into a banana high that strong
7. The shortwave hasn’t been sampled yet
8. Models can’t get a handle on the pattern this far out
9. NAM was south at the end of the run
10. GFS overdoing temps with urban heat island bias
 
Well, if I don't see snow falling from this system, I am going to blame it on not waiting for me to start the thread today. You all know I bring the magic.
