The biggest issue here in Lexington/Columbia of recent years, is everything is trying to cater to the northern transplants who have more money than sense. this area is growing too fast, with stores and eating joints that are too over priced.

Like, its no longer Southern down here. I live on a dead end road that used to have nobody out here. Now all the old people have sold their land and have turned my freaking dead end road into an interstate with all the development out here.

I dont even know where these people come from, but they all have their fancy cars, (think BMW) etc, and think they are holier than thou. The traffic never ends on a dead end road! It makes no sense, and I am ready to get the Hell out of here.

I moved out to Lexington for the last three years I was there and you are pretty spot on. 378 is reminds me of any major road in the Atlanta area now. The secret is out up north, low low taxes in South Carolina.

In fact, I'm bored.. I am going out to my woods to find some trees.. and I'm going to plant an entire forest in my front yard, close to the road, to block all of these noises and nosey people out.

Adventure time! bbl

Columbia is horrible. I don't like the majority of the people or the layout. I stay away from there if at all possible. Charleston is much nicer, if you're talking history/people/layout. etc. Except when you feed the birds at the Battery. They give you tickets for that now. So nvm, CHS sucks too.
I really wanted you guys to get the snow hopefully you still will later:)

November 1st 2014 4.5” of snow imby.

What a wild day that was with all the leaves still on the trees. I was just on the eastern edge of that, I only got a dusting, but I did drive west and can attest to those accumulations. You had to be >450' to get the snow to stick. The rain/snow line that passes through Lexington County up through the Newberry/Richland line all the time is no coincidence if you look at a topographical map.

Could be worse, Wilkesboro says hello

I like society, friends, etc, but the constant traffic, loud trucks etc waking me up is annoying.

Do you ever use a box fan to drown out the noise or earplugs to block most of it? For earplugs, I recommend the silicone ones that drug stores have that can be molded to the shape you want. The foam ones don't work well.

Does anyone love where they live? ;)
I think Phil loves Gainesville and I did enjoy living there for 6 months. So, I'm not surprised he likes it there. But the heat is something else/endless like it is in much of the SE. Otherwise, I like their weather. And boy do they radiate heat away when conditions are favorable!

In terms of how people and the area is, I don't love where I live as much as I did a few years ago. There is too much development and there are more issues in the area as a result of it. Also many more rude people. The Southern feel is disappearing up here and likely in another decade or two it will be built just under what it was when I left Palm Harbor over a decade ago. This area is booming insanely. No idea where is better in terms of where to live yet, but I'll decide when I get there and beyond college.

In terms of weather, I love it. Seems to be a tornado shield here in this part of the county, and most snows that happen are appreciable, and it snows nearly every year as well at least once. Summers aren't too hot, and the humidity is fine. The bugs are not too bad and I don't miss the palmetto bugs. Just house centipedes, box elder bugs, small millipedes and ladybugs get in. Only tons of mosquitoes like everywhere else.

OK... So was watching WSB and Glenn Burns was "boasting" that they nailed the bullseye of snow across N Ga... Maybe I missed it but never saw them forecast more than "an inch maybe isolated more" at least through the evening news last night... ???

Saw that, he did predict a couple inches for the south side yesterday. He started with a dusting though..

What an idiot, he should be right on with his forecast a couple hours before the event. The day before he was professing a minor dusting with no impact.

I do have to say though, that I agree in the way that Spann presented it as similar to the 2014 event as impactful to travel. With the nature of the snow (dry) with the cold air and surface temps, that no slush time and would be widespread freeze.
Biggest thing that saved metro ATL from a Snow Jam) was time of day, followed by changes in road treatments..

Here is the best part of all of this. We still have Fab Feb to go.

Forget Fab Feb!

If you are pessimistic: Flunked, Flaming, Failure February is on it's way! Either that of Feburnuary. Just Feburnuary.
If you are optimistic: Fully Loaded February is going to be epic!

Mixing with sleet or rain. Didn't go out to check. Quite frankly don't care. Good luck to everyone around me looks to be a good storm for my surrounding counties.

Last night my wife said why are you on the computer so long l told it's snowing outside. Like Christmas l understand :)
I went to bed at 3:30am. My wife woke up at 3 and was like “WHAT are you still doing up??” I said “it’s 20 degrees and snowing!” She didn’t understand why this was interesting. But we’ve been married 22 years so she just accepted it and went back to sleep.
