I think it’s because according to all the indices a week or two ago, we were preparing for glory with the holy trinity of -NAO, +PNA, -AO and December was looking cold and we were all giddy! Now December is looking torchy for the most part!

You know there was nothing in that post that I would consider complaining and of course that's what the banter is for..... just like it's a great place for me to ask you if you lived in an area where you got snow every year would you stop complaining. :D

Seems like on most winters if it’s cold in December then it’s warm in February if it’s cold in February it’s warm in December. If true then I’d much rather have a warm December and cold February.

From every place I has seen/ read about this winter it looks like 2nd half of December to Jan will be warm ( thaw) and gradually get colder from January to March, February and March look like it’s a can’t miss.... to me it looks like everything is playing out correctly, has anything happened that wasn’t supposed to happen yet? I’m very optimistic about this winter, backloaded as always but will higher chances of snow and cold. I will take it to the bank every winter. My only concern is the thaw lasting longer then forecast.

- I’m not as smart as Web and others here but 33 years in the SE has tough me a lot about how winters evolve down here.
