My wife doesn't get into weather at all. So the only person i have to talk to about weather is myself, and this thread.
 
Before this gets derailed ...

Practicing out loud is normal - I do it in front of the mirror for every opening statement and closing argument I make
Muttering to yourself, "What the fuggg," when you see a model run is natural
But talking to yourself - that implies a conversation and two people participating when there is only one present
So ... o_O

Speaking for who ever, talking to yourself is a very good practice for broadcasting purposes and if your just self talker. Great post phil.

me too, went outside last night and got attacked by bugs and then was hot and disgusting all day today

Toss in 2" of rain in last 45 days or so, welcome to my summer! Maybe the cold carrot dangling 7-10 days away will happen!?
 
How do most on here view an overall warm winter with several record highs but with a ten day period of very chilly weather setting us up for one epic snowstorm? Do you consider it as a successful (or even a respectable) winter?
 
I guess the reason I'm asking is because a couple of winters ago, it was very warm overall, but late January winter storm Jonas dumped heavy snow over much of Tennessee and the NC (as well as Arkansas) yet people seemed like they forgot that storm ever happened.
 
I believe that it all depends on the year. Last year was an okay winter because I got my average snow, though the rest was a torch. An amazing winter would be like 2010-2011. A horrible winter would be like 2011- 2012 which was both warm and had no snow. If this winter ends up above average, but we get a big dog, it will be memorable and a great winter.

On a side note, I don't like referring to the weather channel's products, but rather the NWS ones, so I use dates. Naming a winter storm makes no difference.

I didn't like the naming winter storms myself. But Jonas makes me think of the Jonas brothers LOL. BTW: Looks like it's game on for an appreciable break from the heat later this week. Got that to look forward to.
 
Jerry Lewis passed away this morning in Las Vegas at the age of 91. May he rest in peace. Besides some of his movies, I saw many of his MDA telethons, which were true entertainment extravaganzas thanks to the many great guests they had as well as his own energy and the help of Ed McMahon. When I thought of Labor Day, I always thought of Jerry and the telethon in addition to the potential threat of tropical cyclones.

My wife's brother was one of Jerry's "kids", he died at 16 from MD back in '85.... Jerry Lewis did some great work for MDA God rest his soul

Good grief nobody is mad. Me and a few others just disagreed about the fact a name was chosen so quickly and about of nowhere. Most of the previous threads were ideas by members as well, but they were discussed. If this caused drama in some' s eyes then maybe we should default to a poll. One thing is for sure we don't want people to think anyone is angry at anyone else or to call people out. I am sure all of us are mature enough to discuss things like adults and solutions can be worked out. :)

Lol if only we could get such an epic combo during winter. Two lows like that and send the low by Texas east and we will all have a storm to remember. If it was winter. We can only dream...:rolleyes:
