Misc 2017 Banter/venting thread

Like all I've done is voice my views and debate with others, it's not like I said anything racist or threatened anyone or event posted a porn link like this one guy did. Yet I'm banned.

That's Americanwx I think, on Americanpol I was totally restricted from posting.

This is probably the best thing that could have happened to you.

I haven't signed up on the new site and won't, but I liked to observe on the old side board. The hatred and childishness displayed on that forum makes to wonder how some of them can put on their underpants without cursing and screaming at their backside about how it shouldn't exist for being in the way.

Getting restricted tells me you're probably moderate or conservative politically.

It sounds like things haven't changed at that board since I decided to stop posting there almost 2 years ago. When I keep hearing things like this, it prevents me from ever having even the slightest desire to restart posting there. I don't miss it in the least, especially with my being a member of several other wx boards like this one that don't have anywhere near the caustic atmosphere that that one has. They have lost many high quality regular weather posters over the years and they don't seem to care.

religion and politics have no business on a weather board IMHO :confused:

(unless in a dedicated sub-forum where you know the hornets' nest you are about to stir ...) ;)

You're probably right, Phil. If the one here were to go away, I wouldn't miss it. All it does is create divisiveness. Please understand that I'm talking far more than just the political section there. I mentioned that only because Simeon mentioned it. I think the atmosphere of that entire board is caustic. That's why I believe that a good number of high quality wx posters stopped posting there. As I said, they just don't appear to care. Because of that, I think their heyday is over as far as being the premier place to go to for SE wx enthusiast discussion.
Now, boards like this one are at least about as active as that one for SE wx discussion. If they don't change their ways, they're liable to lose more of their share of activity.

Been too busy with work to post much lately - but one interesting IMBY factoid - another record low for Gainesville on the 20th - 36º :cool:
