Thanks so much and to every one that has already donated . We have some awesome things planned and some really exciting news coming next . Don't forget for those who might not have seen, we have a suggestion thread going till middle of next week. We want this place to be inviting for the members and guests . That means we listen to every and all ideas and bust a hump to make sure it gets done .

It sounds like things haven't changed at that board since I decided to stop posting there almost 2 years ago. When I keep hearing things like this, it prevents me from ever having even the slightest desire to restart posting there. I don't miss it in the least, especially with my being a member of several other wx boards like this one that don't have anywhere near the caustic atmosphere that that one has. They have lost many high quality regular weather posters over the years and they don't seem to care.

I got banned for a day and my title changed to a picture of a weenie for a day by the good ol Jburns. He said he meant for it to be a joke and didn't know I couldn't post...I was literally blocked from viewing ANY forum except the public one non-registered viewers can see...all in good fun, but it didn't sit well with me. No excuse for that...if someone in power doesn't know what they're doing, it's time for them to go. Admins fixed it for him, but it was a bit too late. Hence why I'm here now. I couldn't care less about holding onto a post count or a 7 year join date, needed a fresh start and an pleasant atmosphere.

Unbelievably juvenile! I don't know which forum you're referring to, but I can't blame you one bit for not wanting anything to do with it any more.

I'm still a full member, not banned. Like I said they fixed it but I really have zero reason to go back. I may cross post from time to time during winter, maybe.

Like I shoulda said - I'm still a full paid member as well, but don't post - it's too much of a downer over there ... ;)
 
A couple family members were over from Northeast Atlanta yesterday, as a surprise. One of them said that the I-85 collapse doesn't really affect them much (and actually helps them because the detours do not include GA 400, so 400 is not as crowded as it usually is during rush hour). He said that he drove over that I-85 bridge about 20 minutes before it collapsed. He saw black smoke coming up from under the bridge, and figured a car was on fire. He went to work out at a place that was near that bridge, and a little while later, he looked outside and found the bridge wasn't there anymore.
 
I suppose now is the time to remind y'all that there was one time a few months ago where I tried to visit AmericanWx as a guest (I have never been a member there) and I was greeted with a big "Banned" page. Never been a member, and yet someone accidently managed to IP ban me for a short period of time I think.

I have lurked there for about 3 or 4 years and have seen the place go down hill. I tried becoming a member there, but it wouldn't let me past the registry. I kept getting errors and just gave up. Fortunately, I never did join and found this site much more enjoyable. I still visit there, but I prefer here than over there.

It is almost as if they don't want high quality posters like yourself! Not to belittle the high quality posters who continue posting there regularly, so many of them have either left or post only on occasion.

Agreed 100%. It is interesting to see how much the crowd loves Sergio now. It hasn't always been that way. This reminds me of Jimmy Connors, who early in his career was not liked by many due to his youthful cockiness but who became an absolute crowd favorite later in his career.

We know that there are different forums, but we've kinda turned the banter/venting thread into a discuss anything thread somehow. ;) I suppose outside of winter it doesn't really matter though.
 
Former Governor Robert Bentley is now being replaced by Lt. Governor Kay Ivey. Luv Gov says he's moving on to even more important work for the great state of Alabama. Let's hope this work takes him far, far away.

It already did, didn't it? To the luv fest and other places unknown ... sorta reminds me of a former SC Gov ... what are these folks thinkin'? :eek:
 
So how did Bentley get re-elected in 2014 ? In fact, he won the largest percentage of the vote that any republican gubernatorial candidate had received in modern Alabama history. He must have been wildly popular !
