2/4-2/5 Event - Mood Flakes or More?

Go Away Do Not Want GIF

Got a freezing rain/sleet mix overnight. Wasn't expecting my car door to be frozen shut this morning and I had a good amount of sleet on top of it. The side streets had a layer of slush in them but main roads are all clear.

The rich get richer in NC! The poor get poorer! Shutout in the Triangle! Dry streets here. These marginal events never work out IMBY, why would I think this time would be any different?

It does seem this overperformed in general at least. More folks with a dusting / coating than I expected to see! In some areas, it just wants to snow! ⛄

Looks on radar like the band is slowly drifting southeastward toward I-85. Most modeling shows it fizzling out by the time it gets that far south, but it’s already closing in on GSP. 12z HRRR shows a narrow band over Charlotte by early afternoon that wasn’t shown in earlier runs. Obviously nothing major, but seems to be an over performer so far.

Forsyth County NC, roads are a mess in a lot of places. I think we got the sneaky surprise from this event. They had to close the county courthouse again.
I was shocked at how bad the roads were this morning. Robinhood Road was the slickest it's been this whole winter, and my street was 100% covered again when I left for work. I'm pretty sure if the kids don't go to school tomorrow, that will be 2 full weeks out of school for them. Unreal

I had a dusting of snow on the vehicles and other smooth surfaces this morning. There was no ice accrual to speak of. What I saw was pretty much what I expected from an event like this. If the cold air could have been wedged in yesterday with all of that light rain falling, things could have been much more interesting.
