I believe it’s more based on a late developing weak meso low. Problem is by the time it deepens it’s off the coast and moisture is gone for most as the cold air filters in

It is indeed. Similar position as the last event, but way way less moisture and mid thermals. But still these meso lows often carry more moisture then modeled. Could see Salisbury or somebody walking away with a suprise coating IMG_3991.pngIMG_3613.png

IP/Snow in Blacksburg. I would imagine if we get heavier precipitation that it would be all snow. Just lacking saturation in the DGZ

I could definitely see an isolated 3-6", just hoping it's in Raleigh! Bust is 1-2" for anyone who doesn't see that sweet 3-6". Good luck and may the odds be ever in your favor!
So this is sarcasm right? I mean, yeah sarcasm.... good one 👍

CLT graupel jackpot
In all seriousness, this looks like a solid graupel setup, given the below freezing column and inefficient growth zones, but moist low level column and actually decent forcing off the meselow forcing shallow but convective like features, it’s a favorable setup for all graupel once columns go below freezing. Remember graupel - dipping dots IMG_3993.pngIMG_3992.png

I was at a March race in Bristol 17+ years ago and there was a big graupel storm during the middle of the race. They had to red flag the race. Cotton balls falling out of the sky and when they would hit your jacket or the ground they burst open and covered everything. Quick and I mean quick dusting to an inch. They were having snowball fights in the pit. Haven’t seen anything like it since

Here it is: March 25 2006

Sorry everyone--lost the optimism. Leaning towards the classic “drying out the good stuff” fail condition. Not the most well known around here, but definitely on the greatest hits album of ways to fail.

I wasn't expecting obs this soon ya'll. Alright then. 39 degrees/38 DP. Cold rain doing some melting on what's left on the ground.
