Misc Space Weather

Lots of activity on the way, but it has already begun, BZ hovering around -15nt which is enough for a red glow tonight in the horizon, especially over the northern SE

Another M-flare in progress. Unclear which sunspot region.
Edit: it’s from sunspot region 4274. Waiting for CME data.

Already at G2. You can see on the X-ray Flux chart the 3rd big solar flare was longer in duration and a halo CME resulted, which you can see on the chronograph. The last flare seems to have resulted in another one, though not as big. Ugly looking sunspot that has been super active. And it's still not center disk yet. And we still have the coronal hole stream to deal with. đź‘€

Hope yall are ready for Aurora. This CME that just launched from the X5 flare looks like one of the bigger ones this solar cycle
Largest X class yet, and 3 over the last day or so, with 3 CMEs. The second may catch the first and the 3rd is the biggest yet. Fortunately that sunspot group is turning away. It's massive.

This on paper now looks more impressive then May 2024, this CME emerging now is powerful. I mean 500MeV protons are near S1 levels. Thats extremely rare. We are probably gonna experience a rough proton storm over the next day or 2, 100MeV/50MeV is already at S1 levels. I estimate the CME speed at the time of launch to it’s appearance on the coronagraph to be around 1700-1900km

I’ve never even seen them forecasted to possibly be over head here! This could be amazing! Always been “ possibly visible on horizon” or “ with camera”IMG_3100.png

Everything is always better up north apparently. This looks like our snow map.

I am *definitely* seeing some “camera capture” northern lights tonight here NW of Atlanta. Despite the unfortunately placed street light, that pink glow is very much there. I’ll keep an eye on things over the next few hours to see if it gets more intense..:

Stunning here right now! Through the camera, but can see with naked eye here, just faint! This is right outside my house, my own pictures! It’s one of the most amazing things I’ve ever seen!IMG_3139.jpegIMG_3136.jpegIMG_3124.jpegIMG_3126.jpegIMG_3134.jpeg
