Misc General Banter Thread

Well, those streams from Ryan Hall tonight were one heck of a ride when the core was coming ashore. It was such a ride that it tuckered me out further mentally.

FYI, Sam’s gas prices are way down today. I just got it at the one in Wake Forest for 3.45.

North Carolina officially suspends 41-cent gas tax effective 10/10/2026 - State’s motor fuel tax suspended through Nov. 30, 2026

Both the North Carolina House and Senate passed the law during a special session on Wednesday, Oct. 7. The law cleared the House by a 111-1 vote, and the Senate 41-0. Stein’s signature on Friday gave the new law final approval.

I suppose if we can't get no rain anymore - at least we have lower fuel costs.

Yes I know they passed the Bill and I’m thankful for it.

So what’s everyone’s thoughts on how this historical El Niño will affect the south in terms of winter weather? I’ve been seeing a lot of buzz on social media about it so I’m curious. Central Alabama is long over due for winter weather so I really hope it’s one for the books! I wasn’t born at this time but I want a March 93 redo or better!!

It may be different over there but here they haven't been the best. I had to go way back to find a lot of snow and generally they run warm

The good news if there is any is it will probably be active at least? I don't hate that part

I’m with you Brent. Scared of pacific air flooding the country but expect an active SJS so maybe enough opportunities will provide a score.

The way I see it is that the El Niño gives us more storm chances than normal. We just need one shot of cold to get us to glory.

I mean I will say that last year was pretty much the hottest winter we've ever had and yet when you look at the numbers we had average snowfall in one storm not to mention the snow was around for a week which was pretty significant as well

There have been way worse winters than that here(we've had winters it never really snowed even with a 9 inch average!) I've seen a couple of them here already since 2021. There were moments last year when it was 80 degrees in December I wondered if it would snow at all!

Welcome to the south I guess. You just never know. Even out here it's random. We've had guaranteed storms fall apart and storms come out of nowhere

Yeah I think the wedge is in effect as far south as me at least for today. Gonna be very close on if it erodes and gets to the 70's or ends up staying in the 60's tomorrow.

I think Isaias has probably peaked. The IR has looked less impressive since 10:30.

It took longer than anticipated but oof did the warm front manage to affect things, it’s 77 just past midnight.

REALLY hoping the first blast of truly cool air holds on for about a week from here.

Only guy I’ve ever put on ignore here is Twister who is banned. Tempted to do it again though. (hint “….”) Got a long way till winter so we’ll see if/when I do it.

I mean guys if you’re gonna troll, have some respect for the art form is all I’m gonna say. Trolling is easy, but quality trolling isn’t.

First snow of the season in progress out west. I was in Deer for 5 days and just left yesterday before it got cold enough...and now that I'm gone of course it snows lol. 3 inches there right now and still coming down. Had a lot of fun at any rate, plenty of hiking and 4x4 trails, gorgeous area any time of year really.

I haven’t been to Deer Valley, but I’ve been to Alta, Solitude, Brighton, Snowbasin & Powder Mtn

I have a ski resort book at home and it has a note in there about Deer Valley that says, “if you have to ask how much it costs, you’re in trouble”. I always remember that line 😂
