Agree - Bama really missed out on the snow this year. Ready for Spring!I love winter weather but dry and cold is not that fun, very much looking forward to the annual post-Valentines torch
2 weeks until the Daytona 500 ?Thanks. Big NASCAR fan here.
Snowed here last night from midnight till 8:30AM over a half inch at 15 degrees. Was gone in an hour with temp at 20 degrees and sun out. Zr still keeping old snow around though.34 here. Its amazing how fast it goes...it makes me not want to make prints in the yard because it will cause melting.
You would think it would be colder when its 48 at 2:15 in the afternoon in Miami! And its only 54 at Nassau in the Bahamas. Crazy cold down there.

95 sleep score on my Apple Watch after being in the 60’s and 70’s all week. We worked hard for that storm!Did anyone else get about 12 hours of sleep last night? First great night of sleep I’ve had in 2 weeks.
What’s the hangover after tracking a storm called? Like I’m tired and don’t want to look at the forum again for a few days but would do it again in a heartbeat

It’s been tough looking at it today myself. This snowstorm definitely punked me a bit. I think i bought in way too heavily that it was gonna be one of those special ones down here in CAE. Found myself frustrated most of the day yesterday instead of just enjoying the snow. Hate to admit that also cause it sounds ungrateful. But man.. this one could have done so much more. The thought of starting over tracking something is a turn off right now. What’s the hangover after tracking a storm called? Snow sleep is the best sleep. Cold temps, good coat of snow, nightfall, and you know it’s at least gonna be there when you wake in the morning.Did anyone else get about 12 hours of sleep last night? First great night of sleep I’ve had in 2 weeks.

Happy there was a storm but jeez. It would be so nice to have a wintry February too. Been a while

And having to watch the local news ticker praying your district popped up that it was closedMany school districts have largely replaced traditional snow days with remote learning. It's sad that younger generations will not get the authentic snow day experience that gave me (and likely many others) a passion for winter storms.
As a kid, waking up in the South on a snow day was a surreal experience because of how rare it was. You found out school was canceled, and instead of sleeping in, you went outside to play in the snow. It felt like Christmas, since we very rarely ever see snow on Christmas itself. For kids, snow days should be for sleeding and building snowmen, not joining a Zoom call.

These days Wake County will close for anything (they closed for two days for the December 8 event). But it used to be they would often wait until the morning of the snow day to actually close schools. And having to watch the local news ticker praying your district popped up that it was closed
Yeah, I noticed they just cancel days ahead of time now. I remember "back in my day" - which wasn't that long ago - school was almost never canceled until the morning of, and you had to check the morning news ticker to see. Even when we'd get an amount of snow where it was obvious there was going to be a closure, school never canceled until the morning of, or late the night before, at best. These days Wake County will close for anything (they closed for two days for the December 8 event). Depends on their age here. If 2nd grade or younger they get packets and older have to login for some portion of the day for virtual lessons.I don’t know of any local schools that do that kind of e-learning FWIW. They got a packet on Friday for 2 days to be turned in by this Friday.
I remember as a kid watching all the local news stations on snow day mornings just waiting and hoping for my school to be added to the list. “Cmon already, DeKalb closed, Cobb closed, get with it!”These days Wake County will close for anything (they closed for two days for the December 8 event).
