Wow looks like HRRR putting down over 3” in Raleigh area tonight. Still not sure if I’m buying that right now but dry slot does seem to be closing. RAP also showing a decent snow for the area
We had a lull here in NE Durham with just flurries the past 45 mins but it is picking up again! Hoping SO much for y’all in Wake that it pushes that way soon

This has been truly a remarkable storm here in Winston-Salem. Woke up to around an inch and it has snowed ALL DAY, and probably approached blizzard criteria at times. I measured about 7 inches earlier before dark, and it STILL KEEPS SNOWING! We may make a run at double digits here, but either way, this has been very satisfying to watch. I can’t help but feel for my friends off to the east in Raleigh. Definitely don’t want to rub this in y’all’s face, because I know good and well that this totally could have been the other way around. Really hope this fills in and pivots well for y’all as the evening goes on at least

What was great, too, about this snowstorm for a lot of us that got it during the day, is how cold it was. Ordinarily, snow during the day can harm accumulations, but rates were good and temperatures are so cold (low 20s to 10s) that the sun really didn't have much of an impact in the same way it would've if it were 30-32. Our roads covered almost immediately and that just doesn't happen when it's near-freezing (look at last February's storm for an example).

I love that we got hours of afternoon snow but now also are probably about to get 3+ hours of evening snow. Best of both worlds. I was so pessimistic around noon today but am a happy camper now :)

It's a pretty satisfying storm overall, although it hurts knowing that we are like 30 miles from a truly historic storm, and P-type was not the issue. Oh well! Let's hope we can crank our way to 6", or at least 4-5"! HRRR doesn't give us a lot of QPF left, but does have it snowing until 1-2 am or so, though it also didn't have us getting anything this afternoon, so...

But yeah, I was melting down this morning until the snow started falling, LOL.

It’s actually snowing the heaviest right now in NE Durham that it has ALL day here, so this heavier band from the east should be pushing your way soon!!

There have been some heartbreakers over the years but this might be the all time worst I can remember. We do have a dusting in Garner now, but the fact that south Wake county misses every single time is just brutal. At least everyone else has cashed in once or twice over the past 10 years.

Yeah l didn't think we would get much from the coastal but that's usually how we score in this area , especially with cold temps. You gotta have the cold first any boy we have it this time.

I'm much happier this morning than I was yesterday morning. That dry slot was a terrible thing to endure if you're a snow lover. Just because of that, I didn't like this storm. I ended up fine with the snow, but the storm tracking the last few days sucked, and again the dry slot was unbelievable. Usually I would rank a storm like this a B+ or A-. But it barely gets a C because of the headaches.
