31.5 degrees in Acworth with freezing drizzle, winds are picking up again. We have a nuisance-level glaze on the trees and cars.

Very light snow and sleet all the way down to Fayetteville this morning. About .1 inch total precip. Currently 25, up from a low of 21. Warm nose wasn't as prominent as expected, but this may mean an icier afternoon.

Not sure we got too much sleet. Roads still appear to be just wet here. 30.2 with light (zr) drizzle.

This is probably the result of both the sleet and freezing rain on this elevated surface, but ice totals around 1/4 inch 20 miles north of Atlanta. Lesser amounts on the trees since a decent portion of this is sleet which piled up overnight mainly on flat surfaces.Jasper, GA …
Backyard thermometer (in town) reads 33.4. Glaze on cars and trees but not too heavy. Hearing that there are some travel issues in county. We have power, but some areas around here do not. We will see what afternoon brings.

That’s what I’m getting here right now. Have a little more than a half inch of sleet/snow on the ground. Just feeling the tree limbs there has been very little ZR so far… don’t even know there’s a glaze unless you touch it

The pixie dust was a fun curve overnight. Never, ever seen that in all my years of these wintry mix storms.
Not out of the woods yet, but I’m cautiously optimistic about ice accrual holding to just below .25’’. We’ll see.
I’d imagine this is perfect sledding conditions if you can stand being out in the cold w/precip falling. I'll let the neighborhood kids test that out though, cause I'm retired from the sport.

19F and Sleet / pixie dust mix near RDU.
Two thoughts:
1. Like others are reporting, the lighter sleet comes down more like snow than sleet. Might actually be 100% IP but the smaller sleet pellets come down more like snow.
2. Very glad we turned back to a wintry mix. If we had stayed ZR overnight we'd be in trouble. Still not out of the woods. Fascinating storm

I’m getting that same diamond dust stuff right now. Perhaps some freezing mist in there too but so far so good. Roads are not great and the 4x4 folks are out

The CLT area and the NC Piedmont in general dodged a big time bullet in the coolest way possible
We still have the squall line to go, but considering there's barely even a slight glaze on the trees where I am, I'm not too worried.
We literally avoided a possible disaster.

About .5 inches of sleet here in toccoa GA and .10 of FZR, was pure sleet now long ago but has transitioned to a ZR sleet mix.
Yep may end up with 2” of sleet with that huge band later

Dodged the bullet here. Right when the freezing line came thru the rain moved north. So no ice, just wet here, but looking at that squall line with trepidation. 30 now, but I have to figure those storms will bring heat with them. Guess I'll know soon.
This might be banter but just how horrible can the Apple weather app be? Right now it’s current temperatures showing or 7-9 degrees warmer than what is actually being reported at official observation sites.

Once you get outside 526 on I-26 on the traffic cams you can see a little bit of ice, but doesn't look like any travel issues. Looks like fog off the ocean is a bigger issue in the metro CHS area

Yeah upon further and closer inspection this is not sleet. It’s straight powdered ice
In between you guys in Midland, its sleeting with the fine dust like snow. I have seen very little if any ZR yet.
