It’s really started here at the suspected ground zero. Everything is already completely glazed and it’s only been 20 minutes or so.

19/9 with mixed precipitation
In February 2014 we definitely got some ZR with temps around 20, IIRC, though it wasn't the predominant P-type.

Thought on radar and model dryness? I really started to wonder about that, but our totals were so insane that even if we only get 1/3 of our totals we are still in for a significant storms. Just curious your current thoughts on precip?

I want to feel good about things. But that cold is creeping pretty good.
35.7/28.3. DP is holding steady, but temp continues to drop under each passing shower. I'd say by midnight we should be near or below freezing in the city at this rate.

Seems like it has all been freezing rain in Rolesville. Glaze on the cars and roads are getting slick.

Idk either, but yeah, based on radar returns alone, it's starting in the ground zero area.

32 here let go.. I just dont believe the precipitation will be there tomorrow. Fox 5 showed the 3k baron and it went with my feeling is that lull of anything tomorrow mid morning

16 hours since the intial precip arrived here and we still haven't warmed above freezing at the surface. very solid duration for a WAA/overrunning setup. fairly light stuff overall, just under 1/4" of total precipitation so far

Welp. Legit light freezing rain here with nothing on the radar now. down to 24. The radar is really starting to fill in back west. It took a 180 in 1 hour based on the radar I am having to use on my phone right now.
I’ve seen that before. You have mist that is so low that it doesn’t pick up on radar but is so light and small that it freezes because it’s so cold at the surface
Looks like Dawsonville and Dahlonega are now below 32. Several stations reporting around 30. They are in for a long night up there if the precip is present
Yeah, I’m getting sleet in heavier returns but freezing drizzle when radar shows nothing.

Light ZR and sleet mixture. Already glazing. 21°/14°. Not great.
Same here. I’ve had two pretty good bursts of sleet that have dusted the ground and a constant mist that’s already glazed over everything

I highly doubt that report and Brad should know better than to post it. Unless the sounding is really off, there is no way there could be sleet here.
Interesting precip seemed to blossom over rdu and miss us down in clt. Sleet earlier but nothing really stuck and now dry as can be

A nice burst of sleet coming through. The street is turning white. Wasn’t expecting that. I think the heavier sessions go back to sleet and lighter are drizzle. SW Wake county.

Okay this could be me being a weenie but I just went outside with my black coat and there a tiny tiny snowflakes hitting my coat. A perfect shape of a snow flake but just super tiny. Very interesting

Same here. The fact we are getting freezing rain at 17 degrees is mind boggling. RDPS showed us getting to 14, with precip as sleet the other day. Wasnt to far off its rocker.
Serious note, its qpf watch now. We end up with 6-8 tenths + of an inch,its kaddie bar the door. Espeacilly when those winds come gusting through.
Our only hope is to keep the total qpf under half an inch or we are really screwed.
