Misc General Banter Thread

The hype this storm started to get on the Weather Channel and local news in the Carolina’s today will lead to a lot of distrust if we rug pull.

Also…the animosity between southern forecasters and the mid-Atlantic on social media needs to be studied. Our Mets were so confident the high pressure would lead to colder push and no way it would trend north. Alas….

Well, actually, it hasn't happened yet.

Sorry but models aren’t the same as they were 10+ years ago

As someone with a data science background I am curious on how they train the models. Could it be too much data? It does seem like the models have struggled in the last decade. That could just be my own bias and not accurate. However, it seemed like models were at least closer to reality within 100 hours of a storm starting.

I'm no model engineer, but rest assured, it's available data and entropy.

It's not really animosity. It's an imby sport. Everyone wants snow. I want snow for my peeps in NOVA because that's where I'm from, but it doesn't mean I don't want you guys to join in on the fun as well.

Does anyone remember the cliff diving for the Christmas storm in 2010, which was sniffed out very early before models lost it, and then the jubilation when it came back within 48 hours?

Also, tbt to when we only got 2 euros a day. Life was simpler then.
Sadly i can remember 100 fails for every win in NC

That one showed signs of life right as it was on the doorstep. I lived in Birmingham at the time and recalled watching the old TalkWeather thread about that.

Are you ok? You have been really negative on this storm. That's just not like you. I would like to hear what you really think about the possibility of that extreme solution.
I'm sorry, I thought I was in the Banter thread. That was my bad. It's not going to rain....I was just bantering.
