I see the sleet is getting more involved in ATL now!Nope. 21 degrees south of Atlanta early Sunday morning with sleet and freezing rain.

I think most of us knew this was always the case in our area. Its super hard to get all snow around us. Its usually a mixed bag of all 3.One thing that may be right about the gfs is a lot of sleet instead of freezing rain in the Carolina’s

At this point, you want that wedge to be as strong as possible to keep the lower levels below the freezing layer as deep as possible and hope for sleet. We all knew the snow was BS in GA on the GFS, wish I never even looked at it. The models that matter have been saying ice storm all long here. Was really hoping to see over a foot of snow like it was painting but instead we will be blessed by ice (or cold rain depending on if the wedge trends weaker, which wouldn't be bad at this juncture).

For sure, who knows where this is headed. It does seem that we will see some type of wintry weather though, unless this thing falls way off, but most mets seem to think that won't happen but who knows.Well yeah and at least for our area the sleet typically wins out over freezing rain

Count on itGotta love it Might even be rain by Friday.
I think it was February 2015 when I was living on exit 88 and watched it switch types half a dozen times in two hoursI've been riding this line since sunday. My home/the storm. Three dots View attachment 186518
I’m greedy I wanted my foot of snowGFS looks like a sleet fest. I’m not greedy. I love it
that is the most insane GFS snow map I’ve ever seen.Someone in NC is getting 3 feet this run
ArchivedLol. I probably get 6 inches of sleet from this.

Jimmy is gonna go nuts when he sees the snow gradient from Greenville and the NC borderWilkes county buy the snowblowers
Huntsville, AL is on almost the exact same razors edge. The soundings are like a millingster over freezing aloft. We both may get sleeted to deathI've been riding this line since sunday. My home/the storm. Three dots View attachment 186518
sleet totals should cut that down a lot.Someone in NC is getting 3 feet this run
Lock that gradient in. We know the drill on I-85Jimmy is gonna go nuts when he sees the snow gradient from Greenville and the NC border
The northern half of your roof may get a foot more than the southern halfI've been riding this line since sunday. My home/the storm. Three dots View attachment 186518
Yeah you're right, that is probably the best bet at this juncture. At this point, you want that wedge to be as strong as possible to keep the lower levels below the freezing layer as deep as possible and hope for sleet.
AL/western GA taking it on the chin for us...This illustrates my point. You can see how the strong wedge cuts down on the freezing rain over Atlanta. This is a good exit out of Ice-ageddon. View attachment 186521
Shouldn't be any wind inside my house, so hopefully, even without power, I can avoid these dangerous conditions. I'm one of the lucky ones with a second, non-electric, source of heat.Wind chills well below 0F... with likely millions without power.

I bet any meteorologist in NC would not want to go to HoustonIf the 18z GFS is anywhere close to verifying, I am not getting on the flight to Houston Friday morning.
