Misc General Banter Thread

I’m pulling for all in the storm thread but I would have gone into cardiac arrest multiple times if I was in the Carolina’s seeing the back and forth on these short range models. Ain’t nothing ever easy with snow! 💩 🔥
Buddy I'm riding the lightning expect 0 post pictures if it's more than 0

If I don’t get an inch of snow by Feb 1 I may just quit this hobby. All or nothing

This has been one of the more frustrating systems to see unfold.
I'm exhausted.
Exhausted too. But remember. We do this to ourselves.

Don’t look at the January Joke thread. Don’t do it.

See ya next weekend.

I enjoy storms with unusual setups and tough forecasts like this the most as it makes for the most interesting discussions. The models having their flaws and weaknesses makes it so challenging. If they didn’t, the discussions would be kind of boring.

Also, I especially enjoy those that threaten rarely hit areas.

I’m on the northern edge of all the heaviest totals in Georgia just north of Macon. Setting my alarm at 5 am to try and catch the transition if and when it happens. Been a wild week but I hope it’s all worth it tomorrow
I saw the 27-28th blip. 2+ weeks out
"just wait till the column crashes"
"NW trend will save us"
"this will just set up the next one"
lmao

Me too but I obsess with the details like im sure many do and its exhausting after its over. I suppose its a good thing it doesn't happen all the time or I would be a wreck.

Generally it's also good to moisten the bulb right before the front arrives, especially when you may only have a few hours before the next wave of moisture starts trying to make your own push. Absolutely right about having to saturate that one too. Although DGZ is way better and T/D spreads in general is way better than I personally expected, so I am definitely keeping an eye on things going forward.
Clearly this game (that I never really had a chance of winning) is over. May all y’all, still living in hope, get that moisture!

Our late Jan storm is GONE on the 0z GFS. Means we have to wait until February, and we all know how that works. On to 2026-27.
More than likely, the only chance of experiencing a real winter storm again in any of our lifetimes is to move.

You’re going to bail on a run of…. The GFS?

Ok. See ya in November!

Pffftt. As if!?! You’ll be here with the rest of us manic depressive, tortured souls.

Yeah, global warming has ended winter weather for the most part outside of the mountains. Within 10 years just getting a freeze will be like getting snow now.
I mean, even as it stands right now, I would be dancing in the street if I got 1/4” of snow. I can’t imagine how bad it will be in 10 years.

This is totally a Georgia lottery scratch off! Better than DISCO PIG!

yeah. That’s a thing. I looked. Now you endure too. https://www.galottery.com/en-us/games.html

Edit: well quote is no fun if the pic doesn’t show. Lame.
It tried again and left everything the same except it randomly added a city named Georgia right on the Florida Georgia line 💀 💀 💀 IMG_7649.jpeg

Well, the GFS AI just took next week's rain event away and shows not another drop for many of us after tonight and tomorrow. This is playing out just like 1986 which means we are in for a historical ride this spring and summer. Say hello to California stuff like severe restrictions on water and rolling blackouts.

Is this the only thread you can post in, too?

1986 is definitely a concern. But it’s high order and non-linear…. Or hell… it’s just flat out, chaos. And chaos is hard.

A perfect weather model has to account for its own contribution to entropy. And the GFS can’t even account for… a lot of things… it’s well past its due date.

So no…. We can’t jump to that nightmare just yet. But… we need rain across the region, for sure! And pretty sure this current situation is close enough to an analogue of 1986. Pray you don’t get to say “I was right”. Cuz that sucked!

Pouring rain. Windy

This would have been a sick band of snow View attachment 184853
My thoughts this evening. They can be summed up as “this would have been a sick band of snow”.

Cold air in place, first.

It’s a pickle. No doubt about it.

But what’s really gonna bake your noodle later on is…. would it have snowed if it wasn’t in place?

Tempest nosce.

It’s Latin. For…. you ain’t gettin shiznit.

I hate giving good people bad news. I really do. But you’ve made a believer out of me. Good luck kiddo!
