Pattern January Joke

For the 1st system, the old squeeze play in effect for areas west of the Apps...low level moisture gets trapped west of the mountains and gets squeezed out by increasingly cold temps aloft. Pretty routine setup for generating flurries and snow showers for Tennessee and northern Alabama and Georgia but with extra cold temps aloft probably a bit more coverage and duration.

Yep never get excited for extreme cold. Rarely ever works out in our area for sure
Without the snowpack up here, it’s gonna be hard to achieve maximum advertised cold, as it’s hard enough to believe because it’s the GFS.

if this were to verify, it could trend colder further SW. still have time to grab this one back being we are still 6/7 days away
I edited that post after looking at the soundings. The UKMET clown is wrong. N.Ga is snow. Verbatim, of course.

To cold = Dry around these parts minus the mountains. Best snows are marginal on temps

Most of the time, but there are exceptions. I’ve seen it snow all day. temperatures in the single digits. Can’t remember the exact amount. Just know it was over a foot.

I’m looking for the euro to be a much better run tonight, for the second system going by what the UkMet spit out.
Not saying it goes all the way like the UK met, but I do expect it to give a bit of a nod.

Doesn’t the Euro normally follow the UK?

Here is UKmet accumulation map. Guys we got a week to pull this one in. A lot will change in the next couple days. I seen it mainly times where the models will lose the storm a couple days and bring it back. View attachment 182608
UKMet has wave 1 passing thru as mainly a frontal passage, then it has a fairly weak wave 2 that drops in and slides west to east, but it does the important dirty work of moving the baroclinic zone and colder temperatures SE a bit…then a stronger wave 3 drops in from NDakota into the Deep South. Nice look if others could join in
