Meanwhile their official guidance for Durham is <0.5”, which even seems optimistic at this point. Sometimes these products don’t seem to vibe well with each other.View attachment 178549
and over a 50% chance of 2 or more inches?? NWS tends to be conservative, so im genuinely befuddled...
i audibly laughed when i saw that they're saying 10% chance of five inches.......... whilst my mailbox cant even get white. and it isnt like we are expected to have precipitation through the rest of the day into eveningMeanwhile their official guidance for Durham is <0.5”, which even seems optimistic at this point. I get it's the high end scenario but I just don't see how in the world at this rate the boom scenario for Raleigh is 3 inches at the rates we are seeing rnView attachment 178548this feels WILD, issued less than an hour ago. how is the boom scenario for Durham nearly half a foot of damn snow when we can't even get anything to stick??![]()
Especially with the high res models showing us getting nothingView attachment 178549

I'd bet fall apartIs that moisture in the mountains now supposed to push through later or fall apart?
I can already hear the parents and teachers now saying They could have went to school todayIt may never switch over to snow here in Raleigh with precip. already winding down.
All I know is back when I was in school, which wasn’t that long ago all things considered, we didn’t get off for flurries or light rain like happens all the time now (i.e. last Friday). Of course, my parents walked uphill 7 miles both ways in a blizzard to get to school, which wasn’t my experience, but it’s bizarre to me DPS, among others, have canceled two days of school for what seems to be almost nothing (granted, there’s a chance we pull a cat out of a bag with this one, but that’d unlikely and the school day is nearly over, anyways). And good chance they cancel again tomorrow because of black ice.I can already hear the parents and teachers now saying They could have went to school today

i have to believe NWS thinks this could happen, because otherwise that forecast issued an hour ago makes even LESS sense. but as for whether it actually will come to fruition? with our luck, prob notIs that moisture in the mountains now supposed to push through later or fall apart?
this gives me hope that we might have off/on precipitation through the afternoon here... because as of now, nothing is falling from the sky anymore. It had tapered off here in eastern Forsyth County, but rates just increased again. Still melting on the deck and on other raised surfaces temp 33 degrees. Streets are wet, schools closed early and now government offices are closing at 3pm.
Same here. We’ve got absolutely nothing, not even drizzle at the moment.this gives me hope that we might have off/on precipitation through the afternoon here... because as of now, nothing is falling from the sky anymore.
