Congrats james!Light flurries now which is the best snow we’ve had all day.
Could definitely be right. That's about 2500' elevation.Highest total I’ve seen so far. On the NC/VA border. Is this accurate?

Yeah, 50% of over 2 inches here seems very bullish.View attachment 178549
and over a 50% chance of 2 or more inches?? NWS tends to be conservative, so im genuinely befuddled...
Thats wild, I still have nothing and I'm to the W of Chapel HillLight flurries now which is the best snow we’ve had all day.
I mean, they were just a few dandruff flakes, LOL. That they were the best snow we’ve had all day is testament to how bad things have been. And looking at the radar, I don’t really have any hope. I suppose a dusting is possible if we get some lucky banding after dark, but I don’t see it.Thats wild, I still have nothing and I'm to the W of Chapel Hill
Hell, thats more than I've seen todayI mean, they were just a few dandruff flakes, LOL. That they were the best snow we’ve had all day is testament to how bad things have been. Flake quality has seriously improved the last twenty minutesLight Snow in North Durham. Small flakes, but falling at a decent rate.
This is insane to me. Brutal stretch for Asheville
I went to school with so much ice on the trees you could barely get to the road but since the roads were just wet we had school. I used to think it was a cyclical thing but not anymore. I now think it mostly has to do with social media. You can't really sue schools but you can blast the board on facebook. No one wants the public criticism. All I know is back when I was in school, which wasn’t that long ago all things considered, we didn’t get off for flurries or light rain like happens all the time now (i.e. last Friday). Of course, my parents walked uphill 7 miles both ways in a blizzard to get to school, which wasn’t my experience, but it’s bizarre to me DPS, among others, have canceled two days of school for what seems to be almost nothing (granted, there’s a chance we pull a cat out of a bag with this one, but that’d unlikely and the school day is nearly over, anyways). And good chance they cancel again tomorrow because of black ice.
Did 2005 and 2014 so scar these school systems that they just cancel for everything now? It’s got to be tough for working parents who have to still go to work and call out sick or find childcare at the last minute constantly.
We got days off in my day for paltry amount of snow at times, but I don’t think we ever got a day off for absolutely nothing, which has happened on more than a few occasions in the last five years here.
Will you do me a big solid? Go outside and wave that towards Orange Co?Flake quality has seriously improved the last twenty minutes
yep, the past 25-30 minutes has been the only stretch of precip today where i was sure it was 100% snow, no mixing, and with big beautiful flakes.Flake quality has seriously improved the last twenty minutes
my partner lives in CH near the border between Orange & Chatham, and he said hes seen "maybe 2 or 3 flakes." bummed for y'all that nothing made it over there at all... but maybe a little bit of back end will? Will you do me a big solid? Go outside and wave that towards Orange Co?
