Pattern Another Angry August: Broiled, Baked, and Bone-Dry

Apparently it did hit 74 today, but then the rain made it retreat to 68-69.

Really amazing stuff for August. I'm wishing I played hooky from work because 1. it's too cold in here and 2. this is perfect weather to have fun outside in.

KSPA (Spartanburg) has been at 64F since 8:35pm yesterday. Over 20 hours straight now
Yeah here at my house it's ranged between 64-66 degrees all day. This has to be historically cool weather for this time of the year. I can't remember a time I've been alive personally(I'm 33) that it's been this cool in early August.

Not sure how to phrase this but have we ever gone from multiple days over 100 (or close ) to temps in the 60s and pouring rain (record high highs and record cold highs ) within a week?

That’s what I was saying the other day. I need some in depth research on this temperature swing because I don’t remember anything like it in my 37 years

This is now GSP's longest streak at or below 70F in the month of August -ever-

Currently at 63 hours (6:53pm 8/2 - 9:53am 8/5), and seems like we have a decent chance to get up close to (if not past) 100 hours given the forecast today and tomorrow

It is the 3rd longest streak of below 70F (i.e. 60s only) and needs 20 hours (5:53am tomorrow) to set a new record

RECORD EVENT REPORT
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE GREENVILLE-SPARTANBURG SC
914 PM EDT MON AUG 4 2025

...RECORD DAILY LOW MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE SET AT GREENVILLE-SPARTANBURG...

THE HIGH TEMPERATURE WAS ONLY 67 DEGREES TODAY AT THE GREENVILLE-
SPARTANBURG INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT. THIS BREAKS THE OLD RECORD LOW
MAXIMUM OF 71 DEGREES, SET IN 1909. RECORDS FOR THE GREENVILLE-
SPARTANBURG AREA GO BACK TO 1884.

Today will also break a daily record; the old was 72 from 1921, and even tomorrow has a shot. The forecast for tomorrow is 73 which would tie the old record from 1894! Aug 3rd was a tie at 71 with the old record from 1909. We're beating and tying some long held records here; wonder how long these will stand...

(Records for Aug 1st and 2nd are 66 and 65 from 1936)

Only a little over 0.8" combined for Sun/Mon in precip, and I'm honestly not seeing it on the rain threat today. Short range models have had it splitting Augusta, and the radar honestly says yes to the idea of it.

Edit: Still think that was very beneficial rain though as a most of the day event.
