COUNTIES...
At 154 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado
was located near Elm City, or 14 miles south of Rocky Mount, moving
northwest at 20 mph.
HAZARD...Tornado.
SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation.
IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without
shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage
to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is
likely.
This dangerous storm will be near...
Wilson and Elm City around 200 PM EDT.
Other locations impacted by this tornadic thunderstorm include
Willbanks, New Hope, Tar River Reservoir, and Sharpsburg.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest
floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a

A big nothing event here in Charleston other than some wind and few showers. Felt great outside last night.
That’s impossible unless you don’t have your barometer calibrated correctly. The lowest for any official reporting station in NC as of 2PM was 29.78” or 1008 mb, which was at Lumberton:

“Southern Pines Fire & Rescue Chief Mike Cameron urges those in Southern Pines to stay put if you are in a safe location. There is extensive flash flooding throughout Southern Pines and Moore County. Multiple roads are closed.If you are driving and encounter water on the roads,DO NOT CONTINUE!Turn around and return to dry conditions.The Kohls center on Brucewood Road is currently being evacuated due to flooding from a retaining wall failure. A dam in Longleaf country club area has also failed.There are currently two water rescue teams assigned to Southern Pines who have responded to multiple vehicle incidents with stranded drivers.”

Tornado damage has been reported at the Lee County airport.
So far I have 1.05 inches of rain in my gauge near Lake Wheeler in Wake County. There is what I would consider a fresh breeze blowing with winds at 15-25 MPH. Here, Chantal has been tame so far and I hope that continues.
Dry here at home. Trees wilting. Coastal footprint in play. It was dry coming off of I40 hitting I85 into Charlotte as well.
Here's the Pic I took from Hickory looking west. Pretty cool how the cloud boundary is right above my house. Hope all you folks are having some interesting weather back east. Hot and nasty here.
Looks to have slowed down, maybe pivoting NE now, could spell trouble for monster totals in a few isolated spots.
