I wonder what he will think if we get a repeat of Helene and Trump does NOTHING to help. When he basically says the people in western NC do not matter to him. He will change his tune I bet.

Another boogiemen. Trump's visited Asheville after Helene and pledged support and recovery and a reorg of FEMA agents that discriminated against Trump supporters.

My dad taught me not to take anything from the govt....he had polio when he was 14, grew up poor in rural Fayette co. Al., worked at the same job for 44 years, raised 3 kids, bought a house and 30 acres of land and never took anything from the government. He taught me nothing is free! If you take something from them it will cost you more! You can see from the mess this country is in, a lot of people have sold their souls to the Government. One was the best times in our nations recent history was in 1995, the fed govt shut down for 3 weeks (things ran smoother and it scared the $*! * out of them because nobody missed them) and I believe they came up with a balanced budget to re-open it. Those were the last days when men were men!

He was trying to win votes. Now he does not need to be nice anymore, especially since you have a Democratic Governor.

Not where I worked… I would say 60% conservative or conservative lean. Don’t know of anyone that I worked with for 25+ years who was in a union.

You are right only 25% of Fed govt employees are unionized. Should make it super duper easy for DODGE then.

While a fall out is very much possible between Musk and Trump, they’d likely laugh their butts off internally at this. The fall out is more likely because both have egos bigger than planet Earth and it’ll be a surprise if it doesn’t come to a head.

I do think there’s a better chance than many want to think that Elon’s finally bit off more than he can chew and really the only way I think I’m wrong here is if the Supreme Court tosses the Impoundment Act. If that doesn’t occur then I cannot see anything being accomplished involving cutting spending and really, in this hypothetical world, it’ll be a royal pain in the butt to get much done at all in reconciliation.

If 240+ seats had occurred with more senate seats, then maybe you’re looking at it being more likely that serious spending cuts happen.

The rich do not need any help. Congress is doing just fine with this new plan.
 
The whole reason Musk is the person heading a department to cut goverment spending, is because he doesn't need or want you to like him. He's not running for reelection or asking for support from constituents. He doesn't care what you think and that's exactly the type of person for that job. Appeasing people like we have done the past four years does nothing but pile on more problems. Goverment workers have been babied for too long.
