Pattern October Oven 2024

After a brief cooldown it appears we will warm up again. Most folks are tired of this miserably cool weather we have to endure right now.

I personally am not certain that La Niña does the same as they used to. We just went through a 3 year long La Niña and never sniffed drought conditions. It should also be pointed out that the two coldest winters we’ve seen since 2015 have been in La Niña

2010-2011 which was one of my best winters ever.

My wife's brother moved out here from San Diego last spring with his girlfriend and kids. His girlfriend is excitingly sending my wife pics of some weather app showing snow here next week😂 Oh how I remember those days looking at the 15 day AccuWeather forecast showing snow on day15 and actually believing it. I don’t have the heart to tell to not even think about snow till mid January most years.

Definitely a warm pattern in general but the general signs are there. Lots of Scandinavian ridging which is a classic -NAO precursor. +TNH as well which should flood colder into Canada later into October with the TPV sitting in NNA. like that GOAK/AK ridge in place, especially if we try and do something crazy with it and go poleward. Not really saying this for the sake of snow but rather BN temps in the extended IMG_6423.png
 
Hwy 441 back open. There’s going to be a lot of pressure on those guys this winter to keep that road open. Since Helene there just aren’t many ways to get from NC to TN. This is now a major route to and from.IMG_9863.jpeg
