Is it possible the Hrrr is struggling b/c the of Chattanooga radar being down? It seems like it's initialized sim radar has a big blind spot around Chattanooga and maybe that is bad feedback from the radar site that's not functioning, and that's throwing everything off?

For areas east of the apps, I’d like to start seeing returns show up on tilt 3-4 over the next couple of hours in these areas. Currently a weak sfc trough in place across the mountains/foothills

Another snow event with Chattanooga seeing snow to North, South,West and East.
I’m sure it doesn’t help, but it was way off overnight last night and early this morning before anything had gotten that far to the east. It will definitely be something the NWS will look into with this many area getting advisory level snowfall on a frozen ground… I can’t imagine many roads had been pre-treated
I hear nothing but bad things when it comes to Winter weather for Chattanooga. That valley has to really screw you all over.
Hmmm reports getting as far east as Ellijay/Blue Ridge

Temperature is dropping quick here and dewpoints are nudging up too. Down to 35 from a high of 42. Good sign to see dew points rising already, imo.
Came home to a surprise 0.25 or so on the ground, had been driving from Tuscaloosa back to Huntsville, the last hour in the snow and 29 deg.

41 to 38 here in the past hour. dewpoint is 20ish. If the moisture is there, I think the lower levels might not dry it all up. Hoping for some flurries later tonight.

Not gonna lie I’ve had enough of this cold rain nonsense. High of 55F today with light rain most of the day. Sucked working in. Sitting in my car blasting the heat rn. I like the cold but cold rain sucks ass.
I just took my boat out in your area about 2 hours ago, it was all virga then. Nice to see something finally reaching the ground.

possible flurries to a quarter of an inch of snow is not really a bust. The air is dry and coverage is not widespread to be able to forecast for all backyards. They should have just said little to no accumulation.
3 of us lol. Just got back home and it’s cloudy and 34. Fingers are crossed - optimistic but low expectations on whether the moisture makes it or not. when we have a lot of cold air around long enough we can sometimes get these little pop up snows so we shall see I guess. if there are any flakes here I count that as a win. It is December and this is the southeast lol

I haven't paid much attention to this one until some returns started showing up earlier today and still nothing until about twenty minutes ago. Temp is falling a bit faster now. Down to 27.9f
I will get the proverbial dusting picture but at this rate, it will be a minute. LOL

As much as I love snow I’m glad I don’t live somewhere where I have to put up with cold rain frequently. This is miserable.

Think I saw a fat flake here!
You haven't lived until you have to be out in the NE Ga. patented 33 and rain wedge with NE winds @ 15-20mph with higher gusts.

I lived in France from Jan-May 2021. 30’s/40’s and rain was a theme in winter there to say the least. Horrible weather. It’s been between 44F and 55F here with on and off rain for the past two days. Somewhat windy too. Pretty ridiculous for SE Florida. Yesterday’s high of 49F was the first sub-50F high here in 12 years.
