Putin does not care about sanctions, he does not care that " the world will hold him accountable", he holds nukes, he knows no one wants to fight Russia, this lunatic holds the upper hand...... let that sink in. He all but threatened the rest of the world with nuclear war if he wasn't allowed to have his way, crazy times.

In the end there is nothing that can be done. Cold war never ended.... and never will
 
I’m not surprised at all at this point, but damn he did it. Just catching up on news now…
 
Very interested in seeing how Ukraine holds out here. Probably the closest we’ve seen of peer to peer modern militaries fighting since at least the Falklands War. Granted Ukraine is certainly at a significant disadvantage compared to Russia’s military capability.

Tenuous times. Let’s just hope this doesn’t somehow escalate out of Ukraine or it could be the end of us all.

Yep, this is Russia’s answer to the Gulf War. Or at least they hope it is.
 
Watching this dude report from a roof in Kyiv on CNN with air raid sirens going off. Holy crap, he could literally get killed on camera if a missile ends up in the wrong place. :(

Looks like the first phase of the war is concentrating on taking eastern Ukraine up to the Dneiper River. That would give the Russians a land bridge to Crimea, plus a buffer zone. Maybe then Putin can declare victory and not have to deal with a nasty guerilla war in western Ukraine. The Dnieper would also make a natural defensive barrier.

With Belarusian forces apparently joining in, they could easily swing in from the north coming in west of the Dnieper and envelop Kyiv from all sides, too.
 
Does anyone here know how Russia and possibly China could retaliate to full tilt sanctions from the US and allies? Like, are we looking at a dollar crash next week?

Inflation is probably about to get completely insane with oil likely going parabolic. Could get ugly out there.
